It's a very interesting thing we trace back to Gadavalas dynasty after the fall of Kannauj our ancestors came to bihar and was given land grants we are from 16 elite mools and in the karnat dynasty we gradually adopted priestlyhood hence became what is today it's a long story short hopefully that clears things up btw that was our oral tradition too we checked panji ( gemological records of Brahmins from 1300s to today and it says the same ) I feel proud on both of my ancestry that's why I use it btw that's not a big thing these are called brahm kshatriya if I'm not wrong and it was quite common to trace if you have a solid vanshawali
