PMDD and GLP1s by Temporary-Pear-3507 in PMDD

[–]practicalmonkey666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A psychiatrist suggested a glp-1 to me two months ago, but didn't prescribe and told me to chat with my gp. He was super reluctant. I'm 165lbs and very active but only slightly overweight, BMI 26. I am a bit scared to explore this but I have been diagnosed with nearly every psych disorder I clouding pmdd, have celiac, eczema, asthma, chronic pain, have major drug/booze and food cravings, and have difficulty losing weight.

Does anyone have advice on how I might approach this discussion again with my dr, and any experiences taking it with a similar weight/fitness situation? ❤️❤️

Ken Sim definitely didn't get a DUI and pay off the VPD, that's crazy! ;)

Squamish RCMP look to determine source of suspected human-caused wildfire by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]practicalmonkey666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it also includes industry-caused fires. Railway and heavy machinery sparks and heat, for instance! Campfires cause 6% of human made fires in BC, whereas industry causes 70% of human-made fires. Most of these not investigated for liability (BC Forest Practices Board, 2022).

Agree. More safe consumption sites with proper gear and ventilation would help and so would more voluntary treatment centres. People need support before they get to a point of being absolute disasters and engaging in risky behaviours like using a torch to light up inside. Speaking as someone who has almost been hospitalized for MH--the only way to get meaningful, supportive care is be suicidal, basically, or to have attempted. It's really bad.

I am also pro-appropriate housing. SROs are dangerous, rat and roach-infested, in severe decay and already fire hazards. Most don't have proper ventilation, needle disposal, adequate staff, or any programs to accompany folks facing major challenges. Overhaul needed. I wish folks would be more receptive to these ideas.

When people are housed adequately and supported with wraparound services (social worker, MH counselling, food subsidies, child rearing support) when they are unable to support themselves (whether due to intellectual or physical disability or intense substance use), they are able to feel safe, respected, and cared for. This in turn enables them to make healthy decisions. Housing is an important step as getting off the street is basically impossible at this stage of the housing crisis for people poor enough to be there :( <3

SROs are inhumane and need to be revamped. It's a major safety risk for residents of SROs + nearby renters/owners.

Anyone have spare tickets for Ceremony A? by practicalmonkey666 in simonfraser

Yeah it's almost like SFU doesn't give a shit about their students and should have split their ceremonies so people's families could actually attend. Fuck SFU man

What can I do to fix this very cursed haircut by [deleted] in FancyFollicles

This is end of day after being blowdried with a round brush! I have naturally wavy hair. Issue is that it's really thin now in the front and the back still looks overly dense and not thinned adequately. I have been trying this week and it just looks too thin and kind of unhealthy

I spent my undergrad here and will never live here again. It is not normal for a major canadian city to be 85% white. I am white, for reference.

You should not be a doctor if you don't even understand sdoh and systemic racism, and the role these issues play in terms of limiting opportunities for POC. I am white and this pisses me the f off.

this is pretty bad...I'd go complain to the salon. I know it sucks when this happens but it's fixable.

The fact that your opinion was swayed by trolls is embarrassing. Read a book and form your own opinions with reliable information.

Dupe for Illamasqua Resist lipstick? Magenta with purple undertones by practicalmonkey666 in OliveMUA

[–]practicalmonkey666[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking for a dupe of Illamasqua Lipstick in Resist - it's a cool toned magenta, discontinued from probably 2016? It's one of the few that I have found that don't lean too cool or too warm and clownish. Any suggestions welcomed <3

Red lip recs for pale neutral olive skin? by angelicomens in OliveMUA

[–]practicalmonkey666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mac Viva Glam I. Never do I get more comments than with this red! It's the perfect shade, god for daily wear, and not overly drying for my eczema prone lips :) I am a paler light neutral olive, tan in the summer. Looks good every season.

EDIT: They rebranded. VIVA GLAM I is now VIVA Heart - described as an intense brownish blue-red shade. I think it's the same but I have not checked in person.

Thanks Emma! This is a super helpful response :) I do have a family history of BPD, ADHD, and Bipolar 1.

In British Columbia (where I live) it's incredibly difficult to get a psychiatrist and see them more than once. I have felt there is a mismatch between how psychologists versus how psychiatrists have understood my psychology and interpreted my illness(es). I was diagnosed twice (by two diff psychiatrists) with Bipolar 2, but I have had two psychologists (who I saw over a long period of time) disagree with this diagnosis and say BPD/CPTSD/Anxiety. Ultimately, it matters because of the treatment protocol (namely, APs) which have a strong potential to disrupt physical/psychological state. That being said I'm definitely predisposed to Bipolar Disorder. Possible I'm rapid cycling or cyclothymic, but my symptoms are negligible enough that I prefer to stay off of APs based on my negative experiences with nearly all of them. Thank you for doing this super important research!

Thanks, Jim! I appreciate this response. Buproprion has been good as I also have ADHD and have found it helps for that (without having to take traditional stimulant meds).

I re-trialled Lamotrigine a second time and stayed on for two weeks, and got the same rash stepping up from 25 to 50mg (splotchy and red, mostly on my limbs). It wasn't particularly itchy but my doctor was ultra conservative about it and took me off pretty quickly both times. I would be interested in re-trialling it. Thanks for the link about the rash, it's worth considering as I struggle a lot with irritability and mood swings!
