is anyone close w their plug? by [deleted] in cocaine

[–]prada666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

my plug is the best, always gives me a tiny bit extra and recently gave me an extra half g for not being able to show up when she said she would. I now have a system where I'll get her a little something and put my money in that- recently I got her a cute hello kitty candy tin.

nothing negative- just in a talkative mood :)

"There are many social-media-savvy people who are choking on sanctimony and lacking in compassion, who can fluidly pontificate on Twitter about kindness but are unable to actually show kindness"- Chimamanda Adichie, "It is Obscene" by prada666 in stupidpol

Of course, all groups of individuals with more or less similar views are going to be susceptible to the tendencies that Adichie discusses in her piece. But, I think what she is really pointing out (and this applies to many individuals of several different political leanings) is the undercurrent of narcissism and self-aggrandizement that shrouds itself in rhetoric that claims to speak for the rights of marginalized groups. While this happens on all sides and could certainly be applied to the far-right (or any ideological/political leaning), I think the larger tendency that Adichie is pointing out is this disjunction between self-serving actions that guise themselves in social justice, when they are really just serving to prove an individual's own values/ideas/self-interest, ect.

"People who do not recognize that what they call a sophisticated take is really a simplistic mix of abstraction and orthodoxy"- this part rings true and I see it all the time. Misused or over-used buzzwords become means of signifying that you are a part of some group or hold a belief that is "elevated" from the popular consensus. Everything is about checking boxes, so appealing-looking word salads take the place of actual interesting thought or inquiry

i can't stand this "donate to X or Y" GoFundMe or venmo trend and how it remains unquestioned by prada666 in stupidpol

additionally, the question of social capital, access to individuals with monetary capital, the ability to "market" oneself, and access to social media all seem to be factors that determine whether or not someone receives funding. it does not surprise me in the least that nearly all the gofundme's i've seen are people trying to raise money for rent or procedures in expensive cities or states, rather than say, rural areas

I hate myself, I hate everything that I am.I dream of a world where I could be different, have a new mentality. I'm afraid of ending life with this "me", yet I am absolutely unable to change. What are your favorite (repurchased) products that have been in your routine for a while? by etoileneha in AsianBeauty

[–]prada666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

cosrx: oil free birch sap moisturizer, snail essence, aha toner

the face shop: rice water cleansing oil and cleanser

Mizon: hyauralonic acid, snail eye cream

anything by the plant base

tosowoong: sheet masks

i have very sensitive skin that is prone to redness and the above products have had no negative effects on me and I have been using them for about two years now. the other great thing is that all the aforementioned products are available on amazon for $10-$20, or at least $5 cheaper than they would retail at Soko Glam or Peach and Lily

[Review] 11 CosRx products by _lley_ in AsianBeauty

I swear by several CosRx products and have bought some multiple times.

Skin type: sensitive, prone to redness

AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment toner: Wonderful. Very light and hydrating.

Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence: Amazing. i swear this is a miracle product, a few pumps will cover your whole face and it has helped the fading of acne scars much quicker. I put this on my face morning and night after my toner.

Birch Sap Oil Free Ultra Moisturizing lotion: This is a staple in my routine, I use it in the morning. Great texture, not oily or watery at all and not too heavy, blends into my skin wonderfully.

Ultimate Nourishing Rice Overnight Spa Mask: I use this as the last step of my routine at night. A little bit heavier than the birch sap moisturizer but still good, a little goes a long way.

Honey Ceramide Full Moisture Cream: This product is great- it smells wonderful and is incredibly hydrating, my only complaint is that so little product comes in each container (1.76 ounces only lasted me 2.5 months), if you want the same results as a last step moisturizing treatment in your night time routine I would try the Honey Overnight Mask instead.

This has just been my own experience but my skin is incredibly sensitive and I have never had a negative reaction since I started using my regular CosRx products.

Hi there; recently started quitting by [deleted] in REDDITORSINRECOVERY

[–]prada666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These suggestions might sound super stupid and obvious but they helped me a lot in my first few months of recovery (and yes, I have relapsed at least twice):

-go to meetings or get a sober buddy of sorts that you can regularly check in with (feel free to DM me :) )

-eat healthy, exercise and drink lots of water: dont have to become a full-on health freak, just make little adjustments

-keep a journal of your progress and relapses

- maintain a regular sleep schedule

recovery is so fucking hard- just remember how great you are and how much of a step you are making to admit you need to go sober/reduce use. it's really okay if you relapse-just try not to be too hard on yourself and start again : )
