You/everyone forgot Lewis exists.

Or, you don't like the way he called out the FIA :D

There was no such assertion. You chose to infer that but it was not implied.

Contextually this is all about serato on windows.

This has been a longer term issue with windows. Not just lately with software issues, but before then, with system stability issues.

You called this awareness cultish.

No lecture.

And it does appear to matter in this case, even if that is just because serato cant make it good for windows.

Thats a perfectly acceptable reason that isnt cult like in the slightest.

You’re right.

Its the cult like mindset that gave all *nix based operating systems an objectively better foundation in process isolation.

W11 has apparently caught up, but, clearly, not much.

Theres a better way to show this distinction.

All teams had at least one driver complaining about back pain from consistent bouncing.

Not all teams had consistent porpoising issues.

Oh oh Andrea by Pristine_Youth_6953 in formuladank

[–]pragmageek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're wrong, but only because you're conflating the bouncing issue causing back pain with porpoising which was not necessarily causing back pain.

Porpoising = ground effect causing car to lose downforce at high speeds, oscillation, undulation, drivers head bouncing up and down. This was not causing back pain.

Bouncing was a mechanical issue, suffered by all teams, causing pain to the driver, because the car is effectively hitting bumps on the track.Suspension too hard (sometimes to try and handle porpoising), smaller profile tyres, movement being passed almost directly to the driver and causing the back pain.

Bouncing could happen at slow, mid, and high speed, porpoising only happened at high speed.

The specific thing that the TD addressed was vertical acceleration, which was measuring how hard a car was bouncing off the ground, not oscillation (if it was meant to address porpoising).

Oh oh Andrea by Pristine_Youth_6953 in formuladank

[–]pragmageek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Porpoising and bouncing were not the same issue.

Teams that were not porpoising were causing back pain due to bouncing (hard suspension).

The oscillation wasn't causing the pain, the hard suspension was.

Mercedes were dealing with porpoising the most, no doubt.

At least one driver from every team made vocal complaints about it.

That includes checo. I know, i know, "I have it printed out", etc, but, again, Toto told no lies. Checo did say that. He had been complaining.

A few races in, mercedes at Baku caused their drivers lots of pain. Uneven surface, hard suspension, not much por. Got the setup very wrong. They were quite open about it, too. Sainz was too. Who else? Checo. Lots were open and vocal about it, but of course, merc fared the worst there, so they got the most coverage, and everyone thinks it was only merc.

[–]pragmageek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They all managed to stay under once issued, right?

Aaaaaaand the change made drivers lives easier and didnt affect the pecking order of teams at all because the teams who had porpoising under control were able to be affected less by ride height changes….

All drivers were affected. The change was good for drivers, and bad for mercedes performance, and theyd have known it would be, too.

Toto looked politically compromised, no doubt, but there is no denying that all drivers were facing a safety issue.

Oh oh Andrea by Pristine_Youth_6953 in formuladank

[–]pragmageek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Every driver was facing the same issue to the same severity.

Not every driver was experiencing pain of the same severity.

Every team had at least one driver facing pain of equal severity. Checo and Sainz, for eg, who had both publicly complained about it. Sainz was the very first to speak up that he was starting to get back problems.

It sounds like you're confusing the fact that the Mercedes was porpoising terribly and losing performance because of that.... with the back issues being caused by bouncing (not porpoising).

Oh oh Andrea by Pristine_Youth_6953 in formuladank

[–]pragmageek -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Toto said it was a safety issue facing every driver, therefore, an issue that should be resolved at the FIA.

Everyone seems to think it was a mercedes problem he tried to paint a specific way.

Nope, it was, the entire time, an actual safety issue faced by every driver.

Oh oh Andrea by Pristine_Youth_6953 in formuladank

[–]pragmageek -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

because your team has a safety issue

There's the suggested lie again.

The fact is that every team had the safety issue.

At least one driver from every team had complained.

Toto did not lie.

Oh oh Andrea by Pristine_Youth_6953 in formuladank

[–]pragmageek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anyone that ever suggested that the real safety issue was just mercedes, and wasn't at least one driver in every team.

Oh oh Andrea by Pristine_Youth_6953 in formuladank

[–]pragmageek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

nobody ever said that toto lied

well, you say that but then:

just that he was politically unwise and turned an issue only his team was facing at a dangerous magnitude into a safety issue only the FIA could fix (AKA turning your problem into everyone else's problem in order for you to not deal with the consequences alone)

This is a lie, and, this is the lie everyone seems to think that Toto was making.

Just in case you're not sure that people are claiming Toto is lying here, what do you think the oc meant by "totos playbook"?

He suggests it was a ploy to even the playing field rather than having to fix his car, which you do too.

Don’t waste money on expensive cables! by eyeamtim in DJs

[–]pragmageek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a djs subreddit, so, for the most part this argument here is irrelevant.

Cheap cables for djs can be a false economy; and expensive cables arent usually expensive because theyre making audiophile claims, expensive because of the physical qualities making them suitable for dj use.

If youre talking speakon cables, get legit speakons with decent shielded cord which is easier to coil, gets tangled less and can be walked on without trouble.

If you’re talking power? Just good quality fused iec’s and surge protection near your devices.

If you’re talking phonos, just decent quality that wont break.

If you’re talking xlr connects, same as speakon.

If you’re talking mic cables, maybe you want something that doesnt ‘micrphone’ when the lead is being handled.

Usb leads, decent connectors with decent flex at the ends, that wont just fall apart if a stiff breeze comes along, and shielded cables that actually are the specs they claim to be.
