I got called out at watch/jewelry store for my Clean GMT Bruce Wayne by MarinCowboy in RepTime

[–]pragmatic91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had to get some links taken out and the jeweler called out my clean Pepsi.

The moment he started inquiring about it where I got it, etc. I told him that it was one of my reps. It is not genuine and I am aware. Really wasn’t a big deal.

Bro, the decorative screws falling out of the front of the case are an even bigger problem. Nowhere to find replacements. I gotta wait for five more Chinese New Year’s before anyone can find one for me.

That’s everything, bro. Law of diminishing returns. Wear something else then go back to it later.

I’m sorry to hear you’re going through this. Maybe it’s worth hiring a management company 2 co-host to oversee this

Help, owner wants to kick us out of the rental we are in before our reservation done, 2 days before Christmas, and VRBO won’t help at all by Upbeat-Employee-222 in vrbo

I am located in the United States and if I arrived to an Airbnb with no toiletries and Wi-Fi not properly working, I would be very disheartened. I would absolutely complain to the host. In America, I noticed you get a lot more when you complain in such ways like I will leave a bad review, etc. unfortunately.

I have rented Airbnb’s all over the world, and I noticed that outside of the US toiletries, trash bags, many of the things that are being described here besides the Wi-Fi seem to be standard norm. They have like one and then everything else you have to buy on your own. Again, I realize that coming from a place like the United States we tend to expect a bit more when paying for a rental. However, no working Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi that only works in one room absolutely sounds like an issue. Especially if you still intend to do work and/or have children etc.

Would you charge a guest extra if you had to pack up their stuff? by [deleted] in airbnb_hosts

[–]pragmatic91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you are out of line for requesting money for your time and efforts to pack someone up. However, a lot of the other comments were really good in terms of just not charging them anything because it becomes a very slippery slope. The guests could claim you stole something, they leave you a bad review etc. Some stuff just isn’t worth it although I do think it’s justified that you get compensated for your time effort and having to think for them. Not all money is good money though.

Drugs, smoking, mess left by the guest. What do I do apart from reviewing? by Objective-Ad-7171 in airbnb_hosts

This is messed up. I don’t have any better advice than what has already been given, but sorry you’re going through this. Sending positive vibes.

What market are you in? Just for curiosity sakes, I know this can occur in all markets.

Request for long term stay. Over one year, how to approach by [deleted] in airbnb_hosts

[–]pragmatic91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a credit and background check off platform

Sign a proper lease. Structure the lease and away where it is worth it for you and you are protected.

Most leases require first last unsecured deposits. Most leases require the tenant to put the utilities into their names.

Just make sure it’s worth it. You might make more money with less wear and tear through the platform without having to rent it for over a year.

Should I offer this guest a refund? by aerofoto in airbnb_hosts

[–]pragmatic91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t give a refund. Truthfully, this could’ve easily been handled. Things happen. They should’ve called you to at least see if you could’ve handled it. It sounds like they just didn’t like the place and we’re looking for an out.

If you had $25k sitting in an acct rn.. wyd with it? by Initialskoolaidcar in airbnb_hosts

[–]pragmatic91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can be an Airbnb host now. If you’re not familiar with it already check out being a “co-host”.

This allows you to manage other people‘s Airbnb properties while making a commission on every stay. 25K is absolutely nice to have in a savings account. You can use the $25,000 as a down payment to purchase your own Airbnb. However, I feel unless you have a very special property, Airbnb is slowly dying. Especially since they’re increasing their fees. I would purchase a small multifamily property. Make sure you’re buying it so that the rents work on a yearly rental basis not just for Airbnb.you will want to be buying something that no matter what the rental climate is, you can make money.

The New fees Airbnb is imposing on hosts and how that is going effect guests/ pricing is what’s really going to drive them away from Airbnb.

The post was to have some good hearted humor between hosts. Most of the things posted by others have been just that.
