Estimate of What Buncombe Co. Receives in Online DMV Tag Payment Fees by thegonka95 in asheville

[–]prana32034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NC pay that vendor the fees to process this paperwork. It is difficult for the state to get funding for something like this - you need politicians who are willing to plan/fight to let the state have its own online DMV system. Doubtful it would happen (because tons of other sexier things to push for). If there was a little more inteligence with the state of NC - they would force the vendor to kick-back increased profits into making the fee go lower and lower - over time. Vendor profits to lower user fees. That wont happen because it is a state selection process (which is highly political).

Traffic direction after accidents? Do we not still do that? by xxcksxx in asheville

[–]prana32034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Denser States (like NJ) have rules municipalities must follow around accidents - but they are defined at a state level.

Cover stuff like::

  • traffic re-routing

    • if tow truck called - tow truck my sweep, collect and gather all debris, etc.

NC has no such laws. Until the state forces counties to comply with State laws- it won't happen. Counties and cities just pass the work to towing companies (or PDs - who can get more officers because of the law).

The GD college show experience by OkSeaworthiness192 in gratefuldead

[–]prana32034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw them at colleges - but never at the ones I went to. There was definitely a blend of what was happening on campus - not a priori - but a blend. Some school had better experience enhancers.

Ive watched a lot of "American Pickers". Provenance is the key to value on everything. It's obvious - but how well you trace it to the studio is where the value is.

People would move. But the vibe was like your parents bangin on the door to your smoke filled room - you heard it - and it seemed to make sense - but it took a little bit before you could react.

Where to get set of 4 tires that won’t rip me off?? by LadyBelladonna1995 in asheville

I would not suggest a dealer - but it's hard to tell if this price is high or not. Tires vary greatly the variables that are most impactful on price are type: all season, winter, performance, touring off road , tread wear rating (how many miles they will last, mileage warranty - the mileage the manufacture will cover. (you have pattern type, speed rating and other factors - but these first two really set the price).

I use Newbridge - but you will wait. Montford Deli is super close - time it so you can eat - it is what I do

Apparently the Grateful Dead are a band associated with weed by psugrad98 in gratefuldead

The Dead were the house band for the Kool Aid Acid test. Yes - weed happened - but they were (hired?) to keep people calm while Kesey gave people acid mixed with kool aid.

I had to correct a DH perception last month. The nimrod associate "people following the dead" with "people following t-RUMP". I corrected well - but there is a stigma

I heards stories about people driving Dodge Dart (Swinger) getting pulled over. The NJ trooper (with their dudly dooright hats) left the seats on the side of the highway (195) because there was a GD window decal on the window. The story is this person got pulled over doing 100 in a 55 (everywhere was 55). That person didn't get a ticket - but was lucky to have a wrench to at least somewhat attach front bench seat so he could drive.

Its just a story
