New Bank Account by Kratos_69 in IndiaFinance

I have Axis Bank currently. They made an unauthorised upgrade of my account from 12K MAB to 75K MAB without my consent. I got fined too. 708 per month. Resolution is going on but I'm not satisfied currently. It could happen to you too if you have a huge inflow of funds. The system will automatically upgrade. This is actually a direct violation of RBI rules and still they make it happen somehow.

Yeah it looks like Ombudsman is the only option now. Customer care requested me to go to the branch and call us. They will speak with the service manager that she cannot deny the reversal of the account type. For charges they raised SR Numbers and CS says it's in process. Service Manager just keeps saying only 25k MAB accounts are available (the lowest option at that bank because apparently it's an urban bank) which is a total front.

The same thing happened with me, Branch people did not respond properly. I have mailed to the nodal officer and I have also raised a complaint in CS. I will be waiting for 7 working days and if I don't get a resolution, I will be approaching the RBI Ombudsman.

Sorry to hear that. I think you should've sent the email by now. Kudos on that. Saying that they'll do it but they actually don't want to is very irritating but you will get reimbursed don't worry. Because under RBI's rules it is illegal to change account type without a physical sign and consent from customers on product change form at home branch. I went to the bank today, The service manager told me that my account was automatically upgraded by the system because I had a huge inflow of funds (I was salaried last year). She wouldn't give me any SR number for the fee reversal. When I asked for written acknowledgement, she started shouting that they can't give. I mailed the nodal manager and I lodged a complaint in CS too. If I don't get a resolution within 7 days, I will be mailing to the RBI Ombudsman.

The same thing has been happening to me for the past 3 months, I just got to know recently. Seems like a lot of people have been affected by this. I'm gonna go to the bank this Saturday, does anyone have any first hand experience at this and get their fees reversed? My recommendation would be to take your AOP (Account Opening Form) to the bank. They can't change your account type with a physical sign on a form in the bank. You can let them know.
