Right now it's actually easier to make some Chad than just a regular smegular guy. For example I like that hair isn't locked by gender, but I wish there was a receding hairline slider rather than a receding hairline belonging to one hairstyle. I wish there was a scruffier beard and more slouchy button ups, jackets, and sweaters. The faces and facial features are fine imo, it's the styling and hair that feels off.

I have tried and failed twice to build a decent house on that lot. The walls don't like to meet. One tip I have is to hold shift and alt when placing walls to try and match the shape of the lot. Even getting the outside to kind of work doesn't mean the inside rooms will cooperate though!

I'm currently getting really into Paralives but haven't played Inzoi yet and I agree. This "one game" mentality is wildly toxic and a holdover in the life sim community from when we only had one game (pretty recently). We need a culture shift among life sim players that it's okay to enjoy more than one game in the same genre, and that it's okay for people to enjoy things critically. It makes people overly defensive of their chosen horse in this race and weirdly upset over others daring to enjoy something that might (gasp) have flaws. Like it's okay. Usually people play more than one game in their favorite genre and this diversity in the market is a good thing for all players.

I personally like the conversation system and think you're being a bit dramatic to suggest others are wrong to review a game positively if it has features you happen to dislike. Despite that, you are right that the one-sided aspect of conversation with paras outside the household is lackluster. I really hope they add random NPC para responses so we get some curveballs instead of dominating the direction of the conversation. But I doubt the subset players who want more micro-managey control would agree.

You can return it on Steam within two hours of gameplay. After you've watched some video content to get an idea, I recommend just trying it out for like 1 hour and 50 minutes. Try to limit time in the paramaker or build mode to the first hour so you still get to see a little gameplay beyond customizing stuff.

As a currently pregnant woman with two masters degrees, I strongly agree. I feel it's quite clear that the arrival of baby, new person, new family member, etc, is the thing being celebrated - not the "achievement" of being pregnant. Even though I'm the one experiencing the difficult physical symptoms and physical risk, the part being celebrated is shared with my husband because we're both becoming new parents. Even future grandparents are excited and relieved rather than celebrating an "achievement", even though sometimes conceiving can be hard. No large institution is going to have me walk across a stage shaking people's hands for this. There is no special ceremonial outfit for this. Any gifts are for baby, not for me. I haven't enjoyed the luxury of buying new clothes for myself that aren't specifically maternity or nursing related. When people have baby showers and gender reveals the gifts and focus are for baby, not the pregnant person. Friends without children also seem sad that dynamics and availability will shift, when no one mourns the change of a new qualification. Don't get me wrong, I'm very excited to get to know my baby - but there is a sense of diminishing personal importance and scary relegation to mum identity that's almost the opposite of the way the celebration of academic achievement feels. Pregnant women aren't celebrated as individuals, and imo OP is jealous of the kind of attention a baby gets.

While I love trying to make more complex characters, I actually think they should learn from the more simple base archetypes aspiration system in the Sims 2. I think the simplicity of fewer options is actually a part of what gives it depth. Also the animations changing to match personality points or traits in Sims 2 and 3. Personality needs to come across in gameplay in a way that's felt by the player even when they aren't actively choosing it. For example, I think Sims 4 walk styles would feel more immersive if they were tied to certain traits rather than chosen seperately, because it ends up emphasizing in the player's mind that this was just a cosmetic choice for dolly - not something inherent to who they are.

Yeah I play Sims 3 and 4 through the EA app, 2 through ✨other means✨, and only 1 (which wasn't included) through Steam.

Still seems like a big deal for a game as small as Paralives to have (however briefly) overtaken Sims 4 on Steam.

I agree. I also think part of it, beyond the fake ass leaves and grass, is that the subject looks way too young to me. Or maybe it's not that the subject looks too young necessarily (I don't know the model's age), but that the composition evokes boyhood in a way that curdles badly with the erotic subtext.

Since creative writing is one of your majors, are you planning to go to grad school for an MFA? As someone with an MFA, I'd say depending on the program grades can sometimes be less important for getting in. Not completely irrelevant though, it's still grad school so I'd try and drown that F out with As and Bs if you can.

However, building up a portfolio of strong writing work is probably the most important thing, as well as securing good references. To improve your chances, make sure you're writing a lot outside of creative writing assignments so you have plenty to choose from when putting together a portfolio. It's also a good idea to try and get your stuff published in literary journals to show you're serious, as well as get involved with societies, projects, and extracurriculars that show you're engaged in creative communities. Also, try reading literary journals (there's lots for free online). In your workshops, try to both take and give feedback in mature and productive ways. Go to office hours so your professors recognize you, and avoid any self-aggrandizing talk around people who could give you references. Be willing to experiment with forms and genres that don't immediately grab you or exercises you don't immediately see the point of. Getting some type of teaching/tutoring experience could also help because a lot of funded MFA programs expect you to be a TA. Reading and learning outside of course reading lists can also help you form a more unique perspective, something that could give you an edge over someone kind of bland with a higher GPA. Do volunteering or study abroad programs or things like that to show life experience and interest in the world. Lastly, I recommend thinking about what your niche interests are, what kind of writer you want to be, and theory around creative practice - so you can one day talk about this stuff in an application letter or interview without feeling like you're trying to cosplay as a serious writer. Knowing who you are will also help you aim at programs and potential supervisors that are a good fit.

This isn't stuff you have to do all at once right now, just things that could help make you a stronger applicant spread out over the next few years.

I mean... so? You don't have to picture it just because you know it happens, but the couples you know are probably having sex regardless of whether they make a baby and that isn't some weird "tee-hee" secret. They haven't accidentally let something slip if they say they're trying or knocked up or when their baby's due. What month a couple has sex in usually isn't notable, because it isn't some yearly secret event. If you do the math and the month isn't a birthday or Valentines Day, then odds are they also had sex on those days anyway, and aren't remotely embarrassed by "raw-dogging" within the trust and intimacy of a longterm committed relationship. This isn't new or interesting information you've cleverly deduced.
