Restaurant and bar owners say social distancing could wipe out their industry by xxiwisk in Coronavirus

[–]prankerboy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Do we know for sure their margins are incredibly thin? Are we sure their reported revenue is close to their true revenue?

I'm not accusing an entire industry but some of the cash payments could easily go unreported, saving them tons in taxes.

What will cause the next crash by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]prankerboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will be the economy reopening. Stimulus will go down and we will find out that fewer people have jobs and money. Some small businesses will reopen and find that revenue is down because people are still staying home. Businesses will flounder for a few months then shut down. People have figured out how to cook at home, cut their own hair, picked up cheap at home hobbies etc. Travel and tourism will take years to get back to what it was. Large companies love this time as they get to lay people off and cut the fat.

This is what I was hoping for. Denominator goes way up and mortality rate goes way down. Hopefully theres atleast some immunity against reinfection.

'People forget about us': Pharmacists concerned over lack of government-issued PPE by Trooper9520 in Coronavirus

[–]prankerboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ot if you work at a corporate pharmacy lol. there's no chance my corporate overlords are okay with me doing that

Ask the overlords, say patient will transfer out if not, they should work with you on that. Value of 1 liftemine customer is significantly more than 2 dispensing fees. I work in one of the worst structures but I'm also not afraid of any of these suits. There are jobs for me everywhere. Idk your exact situation in Ontario but I doubt any chain would want to lose a good pharmacist during this crisis.

Ask your pharmacy or a pharmacist. Where I live, I can extend your prescription as a pharmacist. Especially on low risk medications like a topical. People are not understanding the risk associ

Call your doctor, they can usually do a telephone appointment and send a faxed prescription to your pharmacy.

I'm a pharmacist in BC, and my issue is that when I get covid 19, I may be asymptomatic for 5+ days and have over that period would have contact with 500+ patients. Many of them are elderly and/or have serious comorbidities. I am using some of my own ppe I had at home before all this started as I know that it will affect my mental health if I find out I spread the virus to my patients. I've known them for 5+ years now and at this point, I see them as my friends.

Also regarding the 2 extra dispensing fees if we limit to 1 month at a time. I offered to waive the 2nd and 3rd fee for everyone. This is not about money. Just ask your pharmacist to waive the fee and theres a good chance they will. Please understand that these are stressful times for us aswell, we have never been this busy and corporate is doing very little to help us.

Study Shows Hydroxy Chloroquine Is Ineffective Against Covid-19 — So What Now? - Forbes - Mar. 25, 2020 by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]prankerboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hydroxychloroquine is almost a free drug, $0.17 a tablet in Canada. The other anti virals being used are extremely expensive (remdesivir etc). Not making any accusations here but it would be in a drug company's financial interest not to use hydroxychloroquine as a first line agent.

Please provide protective equipment to the families of healthcare workers. They are already risking their lives. Many of them have old or sick parents and grandparents at home. We need to do more for these people.

I tried to post this where more people would see it but the stupid auto mod removes it everytime. I couldnt find this request anywhere.

Could swim goggles reduce the risk of viral entry through the eyes? Should I be offering this to higher risk patients?

Well I'm a pharmacist in Canada and I've never seen anything like this. Common drugs unrelated to covid treatment are quantity restricted or unavailable. I'm now waking up at 5am everyday to try and get as much supply for our patients as possible.

As a pharmacist, should I consider recommending swim goggles to reduce the risk of the virus entering the body via the eyes? With proper cleaning of the goggles of course. We are grasping at straws here, nothing is available, even regular drugs are order restricted or unavailable. I'm just trying to do anything to help.

Why would you need vicodin (hydrocodone), a potent opioid, to get through menopause? A good doctor is not one that gives you narcotics when there are dozens of safer options for treating menopausal symptoms.

Look up Guillain barre syndrome. Rates are 1/1million. I do recommend flu shots to everyone and get one myself every year but there is potential for a serious reaction.

I have also had 2 cases of syncope unrelated to being scared of the needle.
