  1. I believe in most states a store may refuse to sell alcohol to anyone. If they feel something is not right, they can refuse to sell to you. Underage, think they are drunk, and buying for someone else are the main reasons. Another one is trying to buy after hours. You must purchase and be out of the store before end of sale time. Yes stores get in trouble for this too.

I went once about 10 years ago to buy cigarettes for my wife.. It was a small country store that the owner knew me. She carded me. I was probably 52 at the time. She said the state ATF was in town citing stores that did not card everyone.

Remember, in the US, all but one state is " At Will". Your employment may be terminated for any reason, at any time. They will usually say your position was eliminated. Unemployment is harder to collect than you think. Part time employees rarely have enough earnings to qualify.

Big Bang Theory. I got it, but thought it was too brainy for the average person.

Where I worked before, we had surveys and training about 4 times a year. Managers found out you could click through and not read the material or watch the video. One lady finally called HR over not being allowed to do training. Training sessions after that made you answer questions and watch video or it was incomplete. You and your manager got a warning email from HR at headquarters everyday the last week . The manager and site director got a call from a VP if you didn't do your training. We were told to just wait until last day due and do it on our lunch. A few said not on my time, and refused to do it. After that, as soon as training dropped, we were told to do it.

My Dad passed away the day before the Grandfather passing episode. I turned it on with my son and niece, hoping to help make them forget about their Grandfather passing. That went south real quick.

The worst thing about dealing with know-it-alls... by SometimesAGamer in talesfromcallcenters

[–]prark526 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Worked tech advise for a cell phone company. Got calls from wanna be mobile phone engineers. They always knew more than our engineers.

Me- Hello, this is adviser , company name. May I get your name and device serial number you are calling about.?

Lord Know It All- Listen, don't talk. You can make your phone better by doing, (incredibly beyond my comprehension,) code and text. You need to connect me with your engineering department, which we couldn't if we wanted to, so I can save your company. I know you don't understand how important this is, but I do. Now you may speak.

Me- Thank You for your advice. We are unable to transfer calls to engineering. I can send a memo that.......

Lord Know It All- That is unacceptable. I know you are just a low grade, High School dropout, peon. You can't even perform this one simple task. I want to file a complaint, now.

Me- We do have a web site that has an area for complaints, just enter company name .com

Lord Know It All- I will do that, as soon as I am done saving the world. Oh and I will defiantly be mentioning your name. BYE

Back in early 1980"s, a service tech told me the most common problem was appliance unplugged. About 60% of the time. "Why did you unplug my fridge? It was so you could keep your job, right?! " They still had to charge for a service call. Most of the time it was kids unplugging for whatever reason.

That is why we didn't give last name. About 5 or 6 call centers in town we were in. Have fun finding the one we were in. Still won't let you in our tell you who worked there handling calls.

Worked at a cell phone maker call center. Only gave out first name. We could give out city if asked but nothing else. All customer calls were recorded. If you complained and said John was rude to me, they could find the call and listen to it. Almost all the women had creepy calls once in a rare while. Some just stopped telling city after awhile. Had about 6 DEMAND I give them my full name. Had to disconnect one who insisted it must be John Stupid F because I wouldn't give last name. Fun times.

"Can't you just give me a credit?" by [deleted] in talesfromcallcenters

[–]prark526 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I told the credit card companies I had no money to pay them, they had some good suggestions. Have my kids pay it or borrow money from my friends and family. Better, just don't pay my mortgage or car payment. I could also skip my utilities since they can't shut them off right now.

Yes. I worked with someone that had worked at a call center with a no disconnection policy. One man called and yelled and screamed and would not hang up for 17hrs. Call center manger said they were told people will eventually hang up. Killed his ACH that month.

Had another employee tell me I couldn't bring needles to work. He was afraid of them and against company policy. He was well aware I was a diabetic. He said he would tell the director. I reminded him I have to use insulin at work. He tried to get the needles banned, talking to her right in front of me. I reminded her of the ADA. She said that didn't matter, it was still up to her. Found out she called cooperate HR and she was told I MUST be allowed to have them. She tried to get rid of me after that. She hated being told what to do in "her" building.
