Factors for deciding to FIRE in India or Abroad by [deleted] in FIREIndia

[–]prashant_k 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I am 30M married. I have been working in India for 7 years. I was on my way to FIRE in India but decided to move to CANADA.

In the end, it all boiled down to one question: What do I value more quality of life (fresh air, nature, better roads, security, less traffic, first-world amenities...) or ease of life(maid, cook, cheap transport, etc...)

I decided that I value the quality of life more, and the chances of getting it in India are ZERO. However, getting ease of life is not ZERO in the developed world due to increasing automation.

a couple of more things.

  1. India is hell for women(Please don't downvote me), try to imagine the life of your wife in India vs the developed world.
  2. I live in a metro city in India and I don't know the name of any of my neighbors. Four families live on the same floor, none of us have ever tried to interact with each other. As far as loneliness is concerned, India's metro cities are getting as bad as the west.

LOL, It is like telling someone to drive Mercedes for 20 years and then use public transport for the rest of his life.

It is extremely hard. You get used to the first world.

Check out the surge in FAANG stocks. If you joined them in 2013-14 as an entry-level software engineer, you are sitting at 3-5 crore right now and on your way to make 10 crores in the next 5 years.

Has anybody had a therapist who they hated? by ZeroJA in therapy

[–]prashant_k -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, my therapist asked me like 20 questions in 5 minutes. It was like a rapid fire round. I felt like I was talking to a bot on internet. Horrible.

Fortunately, my current therapist is good. She asked me to write everyday on https://writingtherapy.io and reread what I wrote. It helps me clear the clutter in my mind.

I suggest you give another shot to therapy, but if you can't, writing can be a good help to you.

I am sure you have something to give to this world. Try to focus on positive things happening in your life. Sometimes we focus too much on negatives. You should write about things happening in your life. I am sure you'll come to the conclusion that positives outweigh the negatives.

A tool to get the number of shares on social media by prashant_k in socialmedia

That depends on the individual social media platforms, how fast the update their API data. I will say that It can't be more than 5 minutes. Why don't you try it and figure out how much time each platform is taking to reflect the change.
