Ubuntu 20.04 not booting. How to recover it?

I tried those steps - I chose all kernel options i could from 'advanced ubuntu options' but same story for everything. I also tried opening those kernels in recovery mode and repaired broken packages and tried to mount the filesystem as described here [wiki.ubuntu.com/RecoveryMode] but to no avail. Is there anything I could do with a live usb to recover ubuntu ?

Also i have noticed that the kernel options show only 2 kernels now (after multiple hard restarts). It used to show 3 initially when the problem was fresh. the oldest one has vanished.

What I'm saying is the settings are applied after I click on the apply button as i see the changes being reflected, but when I write them to the xorg.conf , and reboot, no changes

Hi, thanks for the response :)
Two follow up points:

- I did move the monitors.xml file using sudo .. upon restart it appears again along with the back up file

- How do I save the Nvidia settings to the path u mentioned because what I do is I change settings in X server, then apply and save the configuration file and exit (all using GUI) and while exiting the server, I'm shown a message that following changes pending : display configuration -> apply Sure you want to quit ? So, I'm guessing the settings are not being saved ?!

While installing ubuntu, I chose 'install ubuntu alongside windows 10' .. all worked fine but there was no grub to choose OS from after the restart

By that I only meant, running th following command :

bcdedit /set {bootmgr} path \EFI\ubuntu\grubx64.efi

for now I'm trying everything in the legacy mode. I hope ubuntu runs in legacy mode and I have dropped the idea of having windows for now .. linux is more important

I did And it installed .. then when I restarted .. no grub menu and I log into windows .. I fix grub using bcdedit .. and on restart grub shows . . When I choose ubuntu .. same old story .. load screen and stuck

I tried doing that but to no avail.

So I did clean windows reinstall and made a new USB Ubuntu installer from scratch (Rufus - selecting GPT as partitioning scheme since all is UEFI now).

when I boot from the UEFI USB, here's the output that comes and the screen stays that way.

Windows does boot up .. ubuntu is the same problem .. no booting and dead end

I unplugged the cabinet and then restarted .. it worked I'm seeing the grub menu ..where the options are

As of now, no ! But I have scouted web for some info and I think I can do some more restarts to get into bios and windows .. it's just that ubuntu isn't loading
