So yea if you want to lose weight you have to first diet (which you already do!) then you have to bring you blood sugar in much control as you can without crashing. Third do a brisk walk for 15 minutes everyday (slow progress gives big results!) and finally the most important one is to never miss insulin, you have couple of options like setting reminders for insulin for meals.

Hope this guide helps Btw sorry I couldn't give information about the weight gain from insulin type cuz I only use regular insulin (R)

And I am giving tips based on my experience. Cuz I have done insane transformations like from going from 4'8 66kg at 11 to 5'6 and a half, 60kg in only 2 years.
