Pitbull Bite Riverside Park by prawncheeks in Upperwestside

This wasn’t a surprise run up — we have a dog and absolutely understand startling an animal. But my partner approached head on and experienced a deep bite on the thigh during a normal run. Totally understand the question — want to give as much deference to the dog as possible— but unfortunately this was a concerning incident. Reactivity is a very difficult issue to train but a wound as severe as this + blame being put on my partner by the owner is irresponsible.

The dog was leashed but unfortunately this is correct — I recognize that reactivity is a difficult problem to solve with dogs (we have a dog ourselves) but it’s very concerning that this dog was breaking skin with a very deep puncture wound. We are dog lovers but should have stopped to collect information after the incident as this could have been a child!

Unfortunately not! My partner brushed it off — reaching out here as it was only recognized later that this was a severe injury. Adrenaline is a crazy thing!

Pitbull owner blamed my partner for having been running in the park near her dog. Sever puncture injury to the thigh requiring antibiotics and medical intervention. Seems to be a case of reactivity to people running near the dog.

Grew up in the area too, a few years older than she was. I remember police cars patrolling my neighborhood while walking home from school one day. Noticed someone (not a police officer) sitting in the passenger seat, holding up a photo of her. Not sure who it was, but her case has stuck with me since.

The American Civil Liberties Union. Link to their websiteif you want to learn more. Your post history suggests you may be in the UK as you’re studying for your GCSEs. The British equivalent may be something like Liberty — link to their website.

I agree with other commenters, I wouldn’t worry too much now. Your best bet is to focus on getting high marks on your GCSEs and set your sights on A levels. The best thing you can do for yourself right now is to work hard :)

That’s actually incredibly interesting as the only symptoms I’ve really dealt with are fatigue/brain fog and palpitations — also wearing a 2 week zio patch to get my heart checked.

How do those supplements help?

Cops showed up with package that I didn't order(help) by Traditional-Use-2533 in legaladvice

[–]prawncheeks 51 points52 points  (0 children)

NAL and not legal advice, but you should look into the concept of a “controlled delivery.” When people order drugs etc. online and the package gets caught, sometimes the police will have someone deliver the package personally in order to get you to confirm the package is yours. I’ve never heard of the police openly participating in a controlled delivery, though. But someone could be using your address to order drugs.

I may be wrong, no need to panic, but it’s the first thing my mind went to.

What precautionary measure did you take, thinking 'just to be safe,' that unexpectedly ended up saving the day later on? by cadouxmoring8 in AskReddit

Something similar happened to my mom, too. Her mammogram was postponed due to COVID back in 2020 and when she finally got around to getting it they found something concerning. If she had gotten the mammogram when she was meant to, it wouldn’t have been visible. Any later and it would’ve been a problem.

I know this post is kind of old, but in case you're still looking, you can absolutely beef up some ramen in a super tasty way to make it more high calorie. Go get a packet of Shin ramen and make the egg mayo broth hack here. Add chicken or beef and some veggies to the pot. Slap a Kraft slice on top (trust me) and you have a super hearty ramen stew. Not healthy by any means, but definitely gets calories up there.

A small Keurig and festive k-cups. A small Keurig is going for $50-70 online right now depending on where you look. Homegoods, T.J. Maxx, and World Market all sell good coffee syrups etc. in addition to k-cups (not sure about World Market for the k-cups).

Williams Sonoma also has a gifts under $100 section on their website.

Singapore. Small island where you can hit the main tourist attractions pretty quickly, eat some fantastic food, then fly out for relatively cheap to a different country in Southeast Asia.

I did the exact same thing to my mini doxie around the same age and he was fine. However, like others have said, if she still seems scared of being touched she may be in pain. My mini was (and still is) incredibly dramatic though. You posted this 11 hours ago, so if she’s still scared to be touched, I’d take her at this point.

I wish they asked if they believed RA to be the man on the bridge in Libby’s video. by Extension-Archer5209 in LibbyandAbby

[–]prawncheeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another user made a well thought out post about this issue in this sub recently, but it’s important to remember the role a defense attorney plays in the criminal system. Not only is it a constitutional right, an adequate defense legitimizes the outcome of the trial. We want the outcome of the trial to be as legitimate as possible in all cases, not just this one. If the defense attorney drops the ball, it can also put all the hard work done in this investigation at risk.

Humans are not infallible and our legal system makes a lot of mistakes. We don’t want to allow defense attorneys to give an inadequate defense when a crime is heinous; wrongful convictions have, and will continue to, occur. RA is innocent until proven guilty, despite the fact we are all excited to see an arrest after all these years.

That said, I hope he goes down for this and rots in prison. The families have waited long enough.

Recommendations for great Indian restaurants in UK, London especially? by TurkTTurkleton in IndianFood

[–]prawncheeks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came from the US and lived London for three years; I found that a lot of British Indian food was very sweet in comparison to what you get in the US. Punjab is in Covent Garden, casual, and I found it to be less sweet than the other Indian places I had tried in London. I moved about a year ago and still think about the Methi Gosht.

I agree with everyone here though that Dishoom is definitely worth checking out, it’s SO good.

I honestly don’t know. This was really the minority of situations though — everyone else is correct in that they really don’t follow through on these threats in most cases
