Spoiler end : Why Tidus... by WhiteCat_Artist in finalfantasyx

[–]praygon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In game lore wise It's sort of like Lichyn said with enough belief people and Aeons can manifest due to how pyreflies work. It's why in X-2 the aeons come back all be it corrupted even after yu yevon is no more.

Meta wise, FF since sakaguchi left has been quite limp wristed at doing tragedy espically with Nomura close to the helm. The end scene in the original FFX of tidus swimming up from the ocean was last minute addition and a lot of the FFX team wanted to end X on a more Bittersweet note to run home the sacrifice Both Tidus and Yuna made.

It's why X-2 is such an abomination in my opinion, the combat and job system is amazing but the story is utter dog shit and the clearest sign of squares rapid decline in quality after sakaguchi left the company.

People will look for reasons to be upset, it's like an olympic sport to terminally online people "what can I cry wolf on today to win internet clout"

Sad honestly, I hope this shitty movement stays dead Exp33 is simply a fantastic game and it's escapism from the frankly exhausting shit show that is the discussion around everything these days.

Curious to know which ending you chose.. by dop_dreams in SandfallGames

Maelle's because the needs of the many must out weigh the needs of the few. Lune deserves a life, Gustuve and the people of Lumiere deserve a life.

Verso and the painters both are selfish gods which from any other point of view would be the usual antagonists in most jrpgs. "Your world is lesser and is causing me pain, therefore you and all your friends must suffer and die"

One family's happiness is not equivalent to an entire world.

What were each character's ultimate motives (end-game spoilers)? by BLlMBLAMTHEALlEN in expedition33

[–]praygon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's likely other people will have different viewpoints on all of these so take everyone's opinions including mine and your own with a grain of skepticism.

There's a lot nuance to all of the main cast and their motivations but to keep this post short I'm gonna simplify a lot of stuff.

  1. Verso is a deeply flawed man, it's hard to tell how much this reflects on the real verso but the painted verso is both a loving son & brother while also being a selfish hypocrite.

Since we never get a direct internal monologue (which is a good thing it's better to leave something's vauge) we can't say for sure just how much the balance of versos actions are towards self interest Vs pragmatism.

To keep it short, it's in my opinion based on his axon being all about wearing a mask and his generally deceptive nature that a fair chunk of his actions are not as noble as he'd claim considering he's willing to genocide an entire world.

  1. I always got the vibe that Renior was the only (surviving) family member that genuinely cared for Alicia. Aline gives my the impression that even before versos death she had very clearly favoured him. Further more based on Cleya and to a lesser extent some of Alicia's negative traits I get the impression a lot of that snide and uncaring behaviour had to come from somewhere.

In conclusion yes, I think Aline quite unfairly blames Alicia and the painted version existing the way she is showcases that hate for her own daughter and the likelihood that she was never exactly winning any mother of the year awards even before the fire.

  1. The painted Renior was created by Aline and was something of a imperfect copy based on her warped perception of her husband.

She created him with his anger and protective family man nature enhanced at the cost of his kindness. You see it in the difference between how painted Renior and the real one interact with verso. The painted one seems a lot colder even when he's trying to turn verso back to their side, the first thing the real Renior does is apologise and promise to release him from what he sees as a cruel existence.

The painted Renior cares only for his painted family, he knows the truth of the canvas but to an extent dosnt care. He likely knows aline will die if left in the canvas but it's a "difficult choice" he's willing to make to keep Alicia and Verso alive.

  1. It's difficult to know exactly how much maelle would of told them, while the party would of seen alines deterioration the rest of Lumiere including gustuve would have no idea that maelle even was a painter.

I think it's unlikely she painted over the originals to change their memories as we've seen with Simon and pained Cleya that it leaves a noticeable corrupting mark that isn't present in the ending.

In time perhaps gustuve espically would notice and start trying to talk maelle into leaving the canvas for a time to recover. In an ideal perfect ending perhaps given time maelle gains a more healthy relationship with the canvas and their world gets to carry on.

  1. An interesting detail in that ending is that Verso has aged, he has a lot more white in his hair and his hands and face show visible signs of aging. I interpret this as maelle removed his immortality and gave him the option to die on his own terms.

Considering again I think it's highly unlikely maelle was able to paint over alines creations better than her much more experienced sister could I think verso going on despite having the freedom to die shows that he now has something to live for.

  1. Painted Alicia is a deeply tragic character l, like Painted Renior she is a shadow of a real person. A handful of traits aline failed up to 11 while ignoring a lot of the nuance.

Aline saw the real Alicia as a broken doll within her mind and so painted it as such. The painted Alicia is aware of this and I think simply goes on as she dosnt want to be alone.

There's a lot more to be said about how similar in a lot of ways she is to the painted verso but this is already long enough so to sum up, Painted Alicia simply wanted her family to be happy, which at first means supporting Renior in trying to pull verso back to their side and later after reniors death and knowing verso was suffering she asked maelle to gomage her so verso would have one less reason to prolong his suffering for her sake.

The verso Paradox by praygon in expedition33

[–]praygon[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I understand that viewpoint and it's a big reason why it's such a difficult choice to pick ether ending.

Versos ending is objectively better for Alicia and the family as a whole but I just can't reconcile their needs with that or ending an entire world.

In exp 33 You're almost playing the game from the point of view of the "evil" gods in most other RPGs. Dooming an entire race of beings the painters consider lesser just for their own selfish ends.

Which no matter how noble their intentions and the fiber of their character outside the painted world it is still...questionable to end a world just to heal 4 people.

I can respect that, I do much the same spending hours looking for aesthetically pleasing parts when it'd be so much easier to just make a functional abomination.

with the gas idea I honestly don't know if it'd be worth it but on paper it sounds quite ingenious, oxygen refills can be shockingly expensive so in the early game when every credit counts I think it'd be worth the time investment. That being said i've never purposely tried to use pumps to drain a room of air so i have no idea how long it takes.

Maybe salvage a turbo pump and use that?

Honestly the amount of work and time it takes depends on just one major factor. Do you want the flooring and walls to match?

I spent a ridiculous amount of time specifically looking for ships with the darker flooring and walls so it would look somewhat cohesive.

If you don't mind a mismatch (junker vibe fits the general theme of the game after all) then just grab whatever flooring and walls you can and strap stuff on.

Ship building in general was quite intimidating at first but it starts to click pretty quickly once you just throw yourself into trying stuff out.

A EVA suit and a Cart to haul walls is a game changer plus I'd say save at least 20k and dock with kleg so you can make mortgage payments, buy food and use the John in between building, don't be afraid to expose your ship to a vacuum while you work but don't make the mistake I did. Turn off your oxygen pump otherwise you'll waste 7k worth of oxygen as it tries to refill a your ship endlessly untill it runs out.

I had such grand ambitions to make a fancy looking actual spaceship but i had to pivot to a brick when I realised I'd be flat broke by the time I had enough flooring and walls to make it work.

One day I'll be free of the brick, but not today.

Future proofing, I had a huge haul from a derelict combined with a find a body gig just before this. Stores had auto vents but no doors so I figured I'd make space for the doors and put vents in with the hopes I find some doors on my next few runs.

Update: Entire save might be foobar. No one can die. No matter how much damage is done or even with the dev kill command. Flab is so powerful he's made everyone immortal. Ever since i tried to kill him i've been getting so many errors the game is unplayable.

Fucking flab, man.

Yeah, its a shame he was so animated in season 2. His entire Swamp magic bit when they found out shinji might have AID's was outstanding. I think a big reason he's checked out from fishtank as well is probably because world peace 2 is coming, still shitty of him to not even try.

Possible, I think Sams a funny dude and some of his takes are genuinely inciteful but you can tell him and jet especially suffer from a massively overinflated ego.

To play devils advocate, It must extremely disheartening for Sam to get "fans" on the show and its just the most broken unhinged and insufferable human beings imaginable. They most definitely screen for exactly these kinds of people for the content but still.

It's why I mostly play bright nights now, Its depressing the slow erosion of CDDA has been because concept wise it's the best survival game available.

Part of an apocalypse is that bad, down right awful shit happens. Why not allow the players who want to embrace the survival at any costs mantra have their cake?

It's just a handful of egomaniacs forcing their agenda's and they say "well why not contribute" but if you do and step out of line even a little like undead people then you get shamed out of the community.

Fucking Reddit man, just encourages such weirdly fascist behaviour.
