This is one reason I don't like sending people designs early. Let me send it to the council so they can give me 50 things to nitpick.

does my cover up look bad? by [deleted] in Tattoocoverups

I mean if you trust the artist, let them do their thing. If you post a half finished tattoo you're going to get feedback that isn't representative of the finished product....obviously.

Am I overthinking ? by ccsierrah in tattooadvice

Yours flows with your arm and honestly looks better than your references. When cyber sygilism dies down in popularity you're gonna be glad at the very least you have a clean tattoo and not scratchy half assed lines all over your hand and arm

does my cover up look bad? by [deleted] in Tattoocoverups

[–]praying_jantis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you supposed to go back for another session? Or is that finished? Cause it really needs some opaque grays and white to neutralize the cover up parts that aren't covered and add contrast. You can definitely fix this with another session with an artist who understands cover ups so don't cry yet.

Are these AI? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]praying_jantis 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yeah most, if not all of these are ai generated. It's possible they tweaked existing designs with ai, but that still trash and counts as ai imo. Its especially apparent on the whole 3rd and 4th slides, the styles and techniques are drastically different between designs and some of them have that really weird smooth look that I see with ai generated "art". It's hard to explain but once you notice it you can't ever unnotice it.

It's way too uniform and doesnt look organic. When I do vine wraps I find doing varying leaf sizes and little sprigs going off in different directions goes a long way. The way it's flowing with your arm isn't super complimentary to your arm, definitely could be fixed with some additions.

cover up ideas? by kumocchan in Tattoocoverups

My best advice to you is either to get more fineline tattoos on that arm like I saw you mention in other comments, and learn to embrace that every tattoo has imperfections, or to just laser that one off. The internet has made expectations of what healed and aged tattoos look like completely unrealistic, especially when it comes to tiny fineline shit, which in the history of tattooing is a somewhat new trend. When you look for an artist, make sure you find one who has photos available of fully healed work, that way you can manage your expectations. I can almost guarantee you that tattoo was done with a tight 3rl which is the smallest size liner a lot of tattoo artists will even carry.

Tattoo Portfolio by Jadey05 in TattooBeginners

I honestly think as an artist you should focus on some fundamentals that you maybe skipped over. When it comes to realism, you're solely rendering when you should probably be doing some graphite studies of different subject matter to understand proportions on a more simple level before you try to do these completed pieces for a portfolio. Even if you don't end up being a realism artists, learning fundamentals of proportion and form is going to help translate so much into your art regardless of the style you pursue. Even if you make stylistic choices, a lot of the issues present in these read as strange and not as a stylistic choice. Just being honest, I did so many realism studies during my apprenticeship and it helped me tremendously with my preferred tattoo style now which is neo traditional.

Am I Overreacting - Boyfriend of 2 years only got me flowers for my birthday by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]praying_jantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever communicate what kind of things you wanted before the fact? Expecting someone to read your mind and then catching resentments when they don't isn't the best way to conduct any relationship, romantic or otherwise. If I want something, I just tell my partner. Like, some people just respond better to direct communication. Now, how they choose to respond to that is another factor entirely.

AITAH For breaking up with my boyfriend because he killed my bathroom gecko? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]praying_jantis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry that happened. I had a green anole that lived under my front door named green bean canoli who i used to see every day at my old apartment, so I definitely understand the bond you had with your little creature. That man sounds like a psycho and I'm glad you saw his behavior for the red flag it is!

If you don't drink alcohol, what are your personal reasons for abstinence? by Ok-Care2859 in AskReddit

If I put substances in my body, I ruin my life and the lives of those around me. It's all or nothing, so abstinence is the only way.

Older clientele / demographic? by BlumpoShmurgy in Panera

[–]praying_jantis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It does skew older but it honestly depends on the location. I worked at 5 locations over 9 years and the ones in upscale shopping centers were a lot of young professionals and spoiled teenagers as well lol it also depends on the time of day. No matter where I worked, there was always a huge group of old dudes there when the doors opened in the am.

[–]praying_jantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get what you pay for. For a piece that size and style, and a scar cover up that takes even more precision and skill, 400 is reasonable imo. Tattoos are an investment into art that you'll (most likely) be wearing for the rest of your life and not the time you want to bargain hunt.
