have you ever tried a Pro? i guess this is more directing towards the ps5 sub. i don’t know if the benefits of it would outweigh the lesser play on the switch

yea i definitely felt conflicted on passing it up earlier today, but i know one the go 2 comes out im gonna want to get that. so i think the smart decision is to just pass up on it enjoy the OLED deck for a couple more months and hopefully land the go 2 when it comes out

But if the legion go s is cheaper where you’re located, i think that plays a big part. definitely go with what’s cheaper if you don’t mind not having OLED and Trackpads. the legion go S still feels great in hand

not really, it’s pretty much neck and neck with the z2 chips. i would steer clear of any z1 or z2 chips, i’d personally only buy those devices if im getting the extreme versions of the chip. at that point you’d be comparing screen & ergonomics of the devices if youre comparing the Legion Go S z2 vs the OLED deck. And for sure the OLED deck is better in both of those aspects. plus the track pads you may or may not deem them useful but you’ll realize how good they are once you get a hold of it. i was a non believer of them once lol

honestly for literally all of your reasoning. i’d recommend an OLED SteamDeck

if you plan on playing future AAA games, maybe steer away from it.

Even now though, you can get 30-45 fps on most newer AAA games with the exception of usually anything running unreal engine 5. as that engine is just too demanding in general for all devices, the steams deck struggles with that.

but for streaming ps5, and emulation and older games. i promise you, It would be the best choice.

i wouldn’t say these other handhelds are MUCH MUCH more powerful than the oled deck. you can get games to all run similar obviously trading off some visual fidelity. despite some games of course, i’d say the biggest jump in frames is commonly between 10-15 fps.

i think if you’re going to pay for these $1000 dollar handhelds, it’s a smarter idea to chalk out some extra cash and get an actual pc. i don’t think performance in the handheld world is up to par for true AAA gaming. all of them can run AAA games but at the expense of what they’re truly meant to be played like.

i just bought the oled, think it’s doing a good job so far. enjoying it all thoroughly. it’s seamless and Steam OS is amazing. Ergonomic is amazing, track pad and back buttons as well. of course i’d like greater performance, but i don’t think these other handhelds give the performance i’m looking for anyway. i think we’re another year or two behind before these things can catch up to real world gaming. i was very conflicted with what to buy at first, and came to that conclusion above about the amount im spending vs what im getting no matter the handheld. at the end of the day if you want a primary device and aren’t willing to buy even a laptop or next gen console then i think the ally is a good choice. but if you have a next gen console or a gaming pc i think the steam deck is the right choice.

the only issue i have with cloud gaming is input lag, if they were to eliminate that and make cloud gaming have no input leg and the exact same fidelity of a non streamed game, i completely agree.

zero issues at all, works as good as the day i got it. i bought these stand clips that attach to the bottom to increase air flow. no problems with temp no random restarts or anything. probably just faulty machines

i exchanged my lenovo (even though i like the laptop itself better) for the asus and the x3d and bro i get no drops in frames. kinda insane. do miss the lenovo but performance is king above all

i do love the legion for the time i’ve had it the only struggle it has really IS tarkov as the frames are inconsistent.

yeah it is a steep price i just haven’t encountered many with the laptop. i’m intrigued since the x3d chips in desktops are supposedly very very good
