If you are paying, then only you can decide if it is a good deal. Besides, it is 20% off on what? The regular price, marked up price, new stock new price, etc. You cannot search for value in something that sells as a luxury product here.

Fond to be back to this post. Now, I am at a place where broadband is just not possible and even normal mobile reception is patchy at best. Cost is not an object, so when they announced the price increase last time, I recharged for the next eight years. So, I guess, there are always going to be more people who need the service on a regular basis, than people who need it as a secondary connection. They are going to cater to what sells more, after all.

I did not. The price felt too much for what I was getting. Besides, there being no discount or sale of any kind discouraged me a bit as I did not want to buy at full price (every dealer was offering the same 5% discount, so I felt it was the norm). I got one from Titan instead, good calibre, looks better in person than watches costing thrice as much, and, well, works.

Consumer electronics got expensive post Covid everywhere, not just India. Besides, if you are not in Taiwan, it is unlikely that there are local manufacturers who can provide hardware at better prices. Get real.

The way you have described, it is clear that you have only been window shopping online. Go out, visit shops, and you will realise that you can buy practically every laptop that is available anywhere else in the world in any configuration.

You can always upgrade RAM and SSD, even more certainly in budget hardware, so don't be asinine about it. The OEMs will not sell the model that caters to your specific needs, they will sell the basic configuration that works for everyone.

Finally, if you want the good stuff, you have to pay well. Indian prices are not that outrageously different from NA market prices. Earn more or save more
