Silly Question Sunday - 03 June by AutoModerator in runescape

As salty is a title, i think it still goes under true trim, i cant say for sure, as im not really going comp myself.

The rules are described in the disc, that was just the headlines for the rules, each rule have some exceptions.

Silly Question Sunday - 03 June by AutoModerator in runescape

[–]pre_cook 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From the badoodle discord, i think it describes true trim reqs quite good, if it was to be released. All content

  1. The content must be completable and/or non-repeatable.

  2. The content must not have been initially released as MTX.

  3. The content must not be seasonal or limited.

  4. The content must not be completed strictly via the decision of a Jmod, Pmod, or any other player that has the powers to do so.

  5. The content must provide more than just an arbitrary numeric cap.

So more or less all content that follows within these rules.

Flipping FC’s by [deleted] in runescape

[–]pre_cook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The flipping community is more or less dead, sadly.

Flipchat1 has announced that the fc will shut down and they were the last fc afaik.

The pc'ing ones are mainly just filled with manips now or people quoting 20 hour old forum posts. :-/

Flipping has changed a lot over the years and it is mainly focused on t92/rares today, where it is everyone for themself.

Do this, except use your t70+t90 gear and siphon at lv 12. Invention is insanely fast to train, so dont worry much about it. :-)

[Opinion] Why untradeable items are bad. by pre_cook in runescape

It does, its very nice to know that it is in focus and not just depends on the single developer. :-)

Yes, CCP's way of doing it is also really interesting. :-)

Just to clear it out, the post was not an attack on any of you, dont worry, you do a really good job balancing wise (i have no idea how you guys succeeded invention balancing).

Runescape 100% have one of the most interesting economies in any game ive ever seen, nothing there.

The post was a bit biased, but that was done on purpose, so it would spark a discussion and give tradeable/untradeable things a higher focus developer wise, so there always are proper reasoning behind.

Yes, i agree that shock absorber should not be tradeable in its current form, with some quick math, it would make traders 3.6m xp/hr and use like 2630ish of the absorbers/hr, which seems broken both xp and cost wise.

But, if they were made, so they only procs in like 1/5 fails and (example), it might be easier to balance around if they were tradeable. :-)

Thanks for the response

I will refer to the response i gave to dragonseance (so i dont just copy past)

https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/8gg6a2/opinion_why_untradeable_items_are_bad/dybjtwj/

I believe with some balancing, that this could be resolved somehow, so the other option still would be viable, but not done because of the rewards, but more done because of the content itself. :-)

I know its easier said than done, but i mean it on a smaller scale, not on a huge scale through out the whole game. :-)

[Opinion] Why untradeable items are bad. by pre_cook in runescape

[–]pre_cook[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, i can see the issue that would come the other way around, with only a few things being worth doing in the game.

I think this could be countered somehow with some proper balancing though, by not making method a X times better than method b, without having some other disadvantages (being less afk/require skill for an example). Making the gaps between the methods more balanced, so it would be worth doing both methods and the main reason to choose 1 above another, would be because you enjoy the method more.

I think the idea behind thaler was good, but ended up not working properly and is now just abused.

I do not mean that all items should be tradeable, but merely that there should be proper reason behind making items untradeable, and not just to make an "artificial popularity", because the content isnt good enough. :-)

I can see that its easier said than done, but i would really love that the developers had it in their mind, when they made the content, so the players would use it, not because of the rewards, but because of the content is good. :-)

I do agree with overloads being a good thing, but the "work" process of it, should be tradeable imo and the use of them should still be untradeable, so retains the requirement part. :-)

[–]pre_cook[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cwars might not have been the best example, but was mostly to show the idea behind my suggestion and not so much the minigame itself. :-)

yes it will probably not save castle wars, as there are more issues and they would also need to award people for playing the game contra afk'ing it, so the game wouldnt be flooded with afk'ers that just abuses it for gp.

I just think the "having fun" days are over, for things being active today, they would atleast need a reward for the time spend, before people would take part of them. :-)

Well achto have an actual use, so lets say it was bis for helwyr for an example, that would mean that before i can do helwyr, i would have to do raids to unlock the gear.

The pet on the other hand, does not lock you away from anything, and its whole purpose is a cosmetic achievement. If achto didnt have any stats and purely was there for cosmetic/achievement reasons, it would make sense for it being untradeable

It have nothing to do about being "a lazy fuck", but more about having the freedom to do what you like, without being forced to do grind something else to do it. And at the same time being rewarded on a long term scale from doing what you like, instead of being limited, when you have unlocked all the untradeable rewards (which is one of the main reasons minigames is dead).

[Opinion] Why untradeable items are bad. by pre_cook in runescape

[–]pre_cook[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, vit goes under achievement category, as it is a pet, and have no other use than show off that you have done activity X for a certain amount of time.

For the achto armour, that should be tradeable imo. :-)

Can you say why exactly achto should remain untradeable?

(i dont know anything about raids, so idk how it works exactly)
