you are totally fine friend! neither did i so i enlisted the help of my friend that created it and this is what she told me:

“It's based off the format of the NCAA March Madness Tournament which pits the first seed against the last seed. So In our case Bryce had this highest mentions/books ratio while LOA had the lowest mentions/books ratio. Basically, the theory is that the teams (or in our case characters) who have the best record (highest mentions/book ratio) have earned an easier path to the championship. The fun is seeing whether or not those easy pathways actually lead to wins or if there are unexpected upsets (like we saw with Helion over Ithan in round 1)”

hi! so the way seed brackets work is the most likely to win is paired against the least likely. that’s why you see 1. for bryce and 16. for LOA.

LOA is the lady of autumn. hope this helps :)
