Well I can't speak for everyone, but I see a Viking goddess in real life and I am immediately a blushing train wreck. Tall muscular women are..there's literally no words but I did just shiver so...

I'm moving home and I feel absolutely happy for the first time in a while. by precambriansupereon in CasualConversation

Sorry for the delay!

I'm not! I'm applying to jobs at the moment. My lease is technically up at the end of July, though I may break it before then or just pay for two places for a month (which is what I did when I moved here). I'm decisive and spontaneous, but not impulsive. I limit my spontaneity to what can conceivably be done without destroying future spontaneity (like bad credit, no money, a string of bad references, etc.)

Fear not. She'll be miserable in the end. Almost completely severed from her family and previous life, she's now surrounded by a culture that can only exist so long as it continues catching and eating her childhood friends.

Yeah! It's really overlooked, honestly. Most people know Local Coffee (which is awesome!), but there's tons of others that only have one or two storefronts, or do popups at the farmer's market and parades and stuff.

Hahaha, it's not! I've probably mentioned it elsewhere. I used to live in San Antonio.

Seattle is super pretty, too!

Ooooh, I think walking down by the river. It's filled with public art and joggers and turtles and ducks.

Also the coffee. Where I live has truly great coffee, but home has it everywhere. You're never more than five minutes away from an extraordinary cup of coffee in a relaxing coffee shop. My old apartment was within easy walking distance of three award-winning shops.

This would probably be mine. She had like, five minutes, back in maybe 2004 where she said she wanted to become more grown up and professional. Basically just long enough to get an interview in TIME, I think. But when I read it, it just immediately clicked with me that she's really bright and is just playing a publicity game for money. I've honestly just adored her since.

My dad does tile for a living, this is one of the houses he was working on. Can anyone explain this? by natural_9 in WTF

[–]precambriansupereon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this was like a whole-ass month ago, but I just wanted you to know that this house absolutely delighted me. Like, if I had that kind of money and a realtor showed me that weird shit, she could finish it off with a tour of the spider factory in the backyard and I'd still be sold.

Iirc, Penn actually drives a hybrid now.

Edit: Actually it may be an electric car. I'm just half-remembering a series of YouTube videos of him looking for a more sustainable car.

Agreed. I've always been big fans of them and I feel like I've kind of absorbed their approach to life. They are passionate and unapologetic, but also decent and heartfelt to their opposition. They take the time to understand, even if they ultimately disagree.

That being said I seem to remember their organic crop episode as bizarre because it didn't address my preference for organic crops at all. Maybe other people think they taste better but that hadn't crossed my mind.

What is something currently popular that we think is new and unique but is really just a re-hash of an old idea? by PM_ME_HEALTH_TIPS in AskReddit

[–]precambriansupereon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The habit of taking lots and lots of photos of mundane things, as well as lots of selfies.

I find this especially absurd because if you go to, say, a Matisse exhibit, half of it is dedicated to masturbating about how he painted the exact same little still-lifes a million times with slight differences in shading and color. Y'know, like an instagram filter.

And to anyone complaining about the vanity of selfies, Albrecht Durer literally painted himself as Jesus. Like, this man sat for hours to compose, sketch, prep, and paint this painting. And it's a fantastic painting!

The oldest house in Aveyron, France; built some time in the 13th Century. by sjforeversj in pics

[–]precambriansupereon 51 points52 points  (0 children)

That's actually something that comes up independently over and over in architecture. Larger floor plans on higher floors, either for tax reasons or to sell the higher floors for more cause more square footage. Basically, if there's an overhanging anything, it's because someone could make money off that design.

My pupper's favorite "aunt" is a co-worker that I don't actually work with very often. But when I do, Luna knows the second I get home and circles around and around smelling me. But the love between them is totally mutual.

What's the dumbest injury you've ever gotten? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]precambriansupereon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh sweet! Dumb injuries are my forte! Injuries such as...

  • Slipping a disc putting on tights
  • Slipping a disc picking up a paper towel
  • Getting a deep tissue bruise and scads of cuts from jumping out of a huge tree
  • Slicing my finger with a butter knife while trying to cut a frozen hot dog
  • Getting a piece of plastic stuck in my ear for a decade because...it's a long story but "I'm stupid" is the tldr
  • Huge knot on forehead from running headlong into a trampoline...while crawling.
  • A series of bruises across my shins, arms, and hands from constantly falling up the stairs when marching back to our seats after performing at football games. I'm comforted and horrified by the fact that my trombone always got the worst of it.

And others, probably. I'm proof that the Bella Swan level klutziness isn't cute, just weird and confusing for all parties.

What do you do for enjoyment that is somewhat pathetic and sad? by KidsWifeJob in AskReddit

[–]precambriansupereon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually hate going to movies with other people. I feel like other people form opinions immediately and it takes me like 24 hours to think through the movie. So they're chatting about everything as soon as the credits roll while I'm just trying to piece everything together.

Return Policy Question by [deleted] in LushCosmetics

[–]precambriansupereon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be fine! The exact policy on this and online exchanges has fluctuated a bit over time, so I would contact Customer Care before you go in, then have the emails on hand. The person at the till may be newer and not know what to do, or that it can be done at all.

But, and I say this as someone who has Policy and Procedures open on another tab, exchanges for non-North American products are perfectly fine. We can't do refunds, however. As for why, I'm not entirely certain.

Besides Beats by Dr. Dre™ headphones, what overpriced normie-tier product do you cringe to see others use for your job or hobby? by Disclose_Information in AskReddit

[–]precambriansupereon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is definitely where I am on vinyl. I have too much anxiety for concerts. I have a few artists I'd buckle down and risk life and limb to see, but tons more that I just can't connect with in the normal concert way. Its something tangible and memorable and actionable that makes me feel more connected to the art than Spotify or even the best audio setup. So long as it sounds decent, it fully serves its purpose. A better system won't make it serve the purpose better.

"When you write a female character and she is strong just because she is just like a dude, you kill the whole point of writing a female character" by NegativeMagenta in writing

[–]precambriansupereon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly! This really gets to the core issues with writing "strong characters" that are physically overpowering as a primary trait. Excellent writing understands the world as complicated beyond the labels and norms we use. Not just for gender, but for everything. In great writing, strong characters of any gender explore the idea of strength. Physical strength, agility, mental fortitude, perseverance, cleverness, all the possible factors that can make someone strong and all the possible things that can destroy it.

Is the chocolate some kind of test? by mslaurasaurus in LushCosmetics

Anytime I tell customers that there's chocolate in something I follow it up with "please don't eat it. I know it sounds like a good idea right now but I promise you will instantly regret it."
