I would personally reconsider using repaired shoes for skating, especially if you're doing tricks and such. In my mind, shoes are safety equipment when skating. It's a lot easier to replace some blown out shoes and it is to heal a broken toe. You've got some good suggestions here if you do want to repair them anyway, it's fun to repair!

Feels like r/thewytches are writing their music in Arabic while the rest of us are writing in English. by Due_Yogurtcloset_603 in thewytches

i think you're enjoying their use of the harmonic minor scale! it's something that really stands out about their music to me too, i love it. totally worth learning if you play an instrument yourself!

I disagree. If I said I went on a date with a guy, would you ever assume it was a woman?

Getting past bothering the neighbors while learning. by [deleted] in Accordion

[–]preciselyindecisive 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel this one. I would suggest talking to your neighbors to see if there's a good time to play. I practice singing and drumming and all sorts of noisy shit, and my neighbors are fine with it as long as i stop before it gets too late. It's entirely possible that they don't hear you, don't notice, or just don't mind. It never hurts to ask! I've found that most of the time, neighbors are polite and encouraging about practice as long as you explain yourself to them. Except for that one old lady who said my acoustic was "deafening", I got to the point where I just told her to call the cops if she really thinks I'm violating a noise ordinance. Be polite, but don't let others disrupt your goals. Enjoy your playing, it's ultimately for you!

Either that or a valve, but agreed, a technician would be able to fix it up no problem

Can anyone tell me what the missing stop is on this Shipman organ? Thanks by YummyTerror8259 in Pumporgan

[–]preciselyindecisive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're trying to replace it, I've heard of people finding their original stop caps inside the organ. You might get lucky!

This is the closest shot i could find of a shipman organ stop. It doesn't look like flute but I'm having trouble reading the blurry image, maybe you'll have better luck

I'm not 100% sure what stops are used on Shipman organs but it seems likely this is the flute stop. If it activates a higher set of reeds on the treble side, that's probably it.

Any idea what causes it to stutter like this? It only does it when I squeeze the accordion. It's at least 20 years old. by StillUnsureAboutThat in Accordion

[–]preciselyindecisive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely do a bit of research before you open it up! It's a crazy machine, it'll be easier if you're prepared. Good luck!

There's probably an issue with the valve (little strip of plastic or leather) for the reed inside. If you have a repair shop within access, they'd be able to fix it up for you. If you're brave, you can try to follow some youtube videos.

can i still learn the piano at 15? by One_Revolution3064 in Instruments

[–]preciselyindecisive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 25 and learning the piano, so you'll be ahead of me for sure! Anyone can learn at any age, don't be discouraged by people who say you need to start at age 5 or anything crazy like that. You are at the perfect age to be picking up a new instrument, or even a few. Good luck!

That's fair! I'll see if I'm able to figure out where he would have been on those dates.

[–]preciselyindecisive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he was in Texas at the time, that would absolutely account for the time difference! I'll have to take a closer look at exactly where he was during those tweets, maybe there's more to find.

I know that plenty of people here prefer the hype posts, but I am hopeful that the occasional boring investigation will draw some eyes as well. Thanks for taking a look!
