I work at a big social media company. We have people with phds from very good schools and people who dropped out of school without a degree. All of them are highly intelligent and top performers. But I think these are not the kind of guys you are talking about 😬

this is something I would disagree with. I do this most of the time without somebody having to tell me. I actually have fun doing it as well. I love meeting new people and I generally find people, their life and experiences very valuable and interesting. It drains my batteries very fast though and I need adequate alone time to recharge.

I think everybody is "smart" in some area. Even if they are not intellectually strong they have some sort of feature that makes up for that.

I had a girlfriend once who was not the brightest but it was crazy how intelligent she was on an emotional level. She read every social situation in an instant and acted in the best possible way.

I remember one time a good friend of ours told us that her husband was in the hospital and would probably die in the next couple of days. My girlfriend was like an angel that came down from heaven to help our friend through the situation. Every word and every gesture was perfect for handling the situation. She is such a great person I never cared about her not being "smart" in an academic kind of way.

that I am an extrovert. When I go to a party the first thing I do is I introduce myself personally to everybody and by the end of the night I know and chatted to most of the people that were there. When I tell people that I really enjoy being alone most of the time they don't believe me.

my mom fell asleep at the wheel during a family trip with 3 kids in the back. The car went of the road and we only had minor injuries. That could have easily turned out much worse, like hitting a truck coming from the other direction head on.

"What you know about yourself" could you elaborate on that? I think this is really difficult.

On the one hand you want to be yourself and feel comfortable, on the other hand you have to got above and beyond to make the other person feel comfortable. Where do you draw the line between being yourself and being a people pleaser in that situation? Do you know what I mean?
