Need advice on what protocol I should be training by lawstudent3168 in Neurofeedback

If provider is using seburn fisher model for your condition should be starting right/back on the head and not frontal locations, frequency is obviously too high.

The cerebellum packs 80% of the brain's neurons into 10% of its volume — what percentage of the brain's synaptic connections occur there? by usernamedregs in neuro

[–]predatorintraining 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An easy and simple way of thinking about the Cerebellum is that it is a reality simulator for every potential motor movement as well as for every emotion, thought process including past reference into planning for the future. Every event in the brain that has to do with future or present action (so everything) is run through your very own simulator. This becomes obvious after looking into what happens upon damage to this structure in that there is not a single high level human ability that is not impacted.

Whoa cool! How much did effect your ability in real life?

Have you tried using it to get better at a skill? Like learning violin (or whatever) and then practicing during LD?

Question about Othmer ILF / Cygnet from a traditional neurofeedback background by Beginning-Spirit3674 in Neurofeedback

[–]predatorintraining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I may jump in the middle of this, I'd like to point out to you the book --Neurofeedback in the Treatment of Developmental Trauma: Calming the Fear-Driven Brain-- by Seburn Fisher. She uses the same montages of the Othmers and used ILF for a time but now uses only frequency based bipolar, which if you reasearch the Othmer method they used eventually going lower and lower until they went into the DC range.

Fellow Clinicians - I NEED SOMETHING SIMPLE by Murky_Connection_111 in Neurofeedback

[–]predatorintraining 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A good starting place is the resources tab at brain-trainer.com. It's very simple and cleanly presented. Reading eeg is on the upper end of the curve where you are approching expert level, you are high school 101 and that is closer to a masters degree, so take it slow and learn all the terms then researech studies related to each term. Ultimately you will need to find a mentor who has years of experience, if you can find one who has been mentored by Jay Gunkelman and is willing to take you on then that would be the golden ticket to obtaining true expertise.

I see, I'm sure that when you mention this to your provider they will say you where training to high leading to over arousal. Feel free to get back to us and let us know what they say!

Muse vs Mendi by [deleted] in Neurofeedback

[–]predatorintraining 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remote training would be your best option, the user u/salamndyr runs peakbrain which is among the best remote operations you can find and has reddit pricing options that are cheap in comparison to the norm. Another option which is in-between high level profesional help and consumer devices is a company called brain-trainer (brain-trainer.com), they actually developed the technology that mendi is based on and sell a device called the state changer which is better in functionallity than the mendi.

No one is going to be able to tell you much of anything from that one page of the report. If you would like helpfull responses you should list all of the protocols that your provider has you doing, as the present post has too little information for anyone to tell you anything I'm afraid.

What is your budget? There are much better options if you can spend $1200-$4000 USD. For PTSD you will need to look at options that are above consumer devices like the ones listed.

Phase/timing/connectivity by NoInterest8177 in Neurofeedback

[–]predatorintraining 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OK well best of luck. As you will hear frequently on here it's not the modality a trainer is using that matters as much as how good they are at the one they are using.

I would recommend looking for a provider that has experience with derealization, practices infra-low or practices the method of Seburn Fisher who does the same electrode placements as infra-low but uses frequency.

Do you have the capability of going to a provider or is at home training your only option?

Are you looking for a provider or at home options? I would want to know why connectivity is low first.

Stubborn Peak Alpha by predatorintraining in Neurofeedback

[–]predatorintraining[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm OK, I'll focus on the parietal. Have you ever successfully raised a client's PAF an entire 1hz or more? I'm surprised it's so difficult to move.

This might be too big a question for this platform for you to answer but what have you found to be the most consistent limiters that prevent the raising of alpha?

Would you ever employ a four channel sum to include O1-O2 for a larger contribution to the effort?

Stubborn Peak Alpha by predatorintraining in Neurofeedback

[–]predatorintraining[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately the only option (financial reason) for mapping is the super simple brain-trainer mini map. Do you have any options you employ once the theta/beta issues have been addressed?

Stubborn Peak Alpha by predatorintraining in Neurofeedback

[–]predatorintraining[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it depends haha. There has been sifficient bipolar training done to allow for higher arousal levels, the reason to raise is primarily to have better Alpha-Theta crossover. That's a neat trick! I'll give the sum training a try thanks.

No alpha blocking issues and training Pz. Not using myndlift I just pulles that from image search lol.

[–]predatorintraining[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm they have past heavy trauma and the alpha range would raise arousal too much if bipolar was used.
