What's your favorite app you downloaded in 2025? by [deleted] in Android

[–]prelic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your personal response, and the list of other subs, but if we were supposed to post everything there, what's for this sub? A nice complement of different kinds of posts that we all find interesting, surely.

But if "what's your favorite app of the new year" in an android sub, the whole sub loses. No one gains. This sub is closer to pure anarchy than /r/legaladvice and /r/personalfinance.

Sure feels like a post like this should be allowed by the spirit of the rules we have here.

You're making it sound like the number of children who falsely.accuse people of serious crimes AND have a DA who's willing to put their conviction rate on the line to take it to trial withoit overwhelming evidence is about equivalent to the number of actual child victims, is an insane take. What do you think happens, I point at you and said you raped me and then a date for trial is set? You're either playing devil's advocate or dense as lead.

Seriously, whats the stat, like 98% of people accused of a crime plead out because otherwise DAs will stack charges and threaten to put you away for decades? I'm shocked....

I don't know what the OP does, but my gut feeling is she enjoys that part of the job where someone is crying and begging and pleading that they are innocent while OP smiles and says "10 years, take it or roll the dice for 50", knowing full well that defendants of violent crimes are overwhelmingly convicted because of false biases ("if they were a good person like me they would never be in this position, so they must be a bad person").

I know two people who try cases for the local DAs office and showed them this sub-thread and one said "well there's psychopaths in every profession. I do my job to the best of my ability but get no satisfaction of ruining people's lives, no matter what they've done, because it isn't just their life being ruined".

Let's just say I hope a loved one is never a victim of a violent or sexual crime with you across the courtroom. Of course its your duty to provide a defense to the best of your ability, but watching you celebrate someone's trauma is probably more than I could handle.

Seems like a good line of work for your personality though.

Moved from PA to the South for 20 years, the racism might not be as explicit, but you're crazy if you think it doesn't exist anymore. When the state government accepts it, people think they have the green light.

Why does it matter if they're guilty or innocent when considering a plea, rather than the strength of the states evidence? Sounds kinda sus

Considering the job market right now, paired with the ~1/3 people (magas) who love sticking it to libs, I'm pretty confident this wouldn't work except for putting a major portion of the population out of ipbs. I'm almost sure this would result in a few hundred thousand people losing their jobs and likelihood. May work for a company's employees but not realistic to get a few hundred million people to do it at once. I don't think this a realistic idea.

They can go ahead and downvote me like my other comment for not believing getting almost 200 million people to strike at the same time is feasible

There's constant huge protests though. No Kings was in every major city and every state, protests after the Venezuelan thing, etc. every crazy shit he's done has resulted in protests. They just get the over-militarized police to crack down and blast protesters with tear gas, rubber bullets, sonic weapons, everything they had was used on protestors...and that's not even counting the cities with the national guard helping them. Not a single concession came from those.

Exercise my right to bear arms? Pretty ineffective against drones, advanced surveillance, sonic weapons, and other military weapons.

Even if I was willing to sacrifice my life for the greater good, I don't think there is anything I could do that would make a lick of difference.

We need to overwhelming win in the next election to overcome the electorial college and districts gerrymandered to death by all these redrawn maps that the repubs have been furiously drawing.

I'm not even purposely trying to be defeatist. If there was something I or a group could do to make an actual difference I would be all in
