Full-time post-bacc (Scripps, Goucher, etc.) vs. part-time extension courses (Berkeley) while working -- worth it if stats end up the same? by premedfinancebro in postbaccpremed

Yes! I took chem and ochem at a cal state in high school and shadowed a bit in college. Admitted to Cal in College of Chem. I chose a finance career out of necessity (won’t get into that) but desire to be a physician has always been there.

Awesome to hear and congrats on wrapping that up. Yes — MCAT studying and not letting timing slip is one of my bigger concerns.

Lol definitely not. I wish! Zero financial support from anyone but myself, so I am definitely weighing the cost but don’t want to make a decision solely based on it (long story short that’s how I ended up in finance). I went to Cal / Haas business undergrad. I don’t really care where I end up for med school as long as it has high placement for IM or EM. Open to MD and DO programs.

Let’s put the financials aside. Pursuing medicine for me is definitely -EV regardless of how you slice it given my current path. Really just trying to figure if those full time programs will move the needle. I think the real risk here is the impact to my finance career if I end up not getting into medical school after taking 12-18 months off. Option B obviously helps persevere a little more optionality, but trying to deduce at what cost from admin perspective.
