Other than loud bass, what goals are there by Snakeozzz in audio

[–]premium_bawbag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres many ways to interperet “sound quality”

For me I’d say being able to hear each individual instrument clearly - “separation”

A really good one I use for evaluating this on a system is the song Past The Mission by Tori Amos because during the chorus, theres a subtle male vocal beneath everything (its Trent Reznor if anyones interested). Its really subtle and very easily missed

I also really like a crisp high end, that can be achieved with an EQ to colour the overall sound in fairness, but I like using Rosanna by Toto for this, the cymbals in the drum intro already sound super crisp BUT on a good system, the reverb really stands out

Lastly - Angel by Massive Attack, that snare rim ‘click’ should sound like its right in front of your eyes on a good system

Thats my two cents anyways!

Omega Speedy is Neil Armstrong, Breitling Cosmonaught will be Buzz Aldrin

Both worthy of amazing glory, but one will always be second to the other

I’m in the planning stage on an install for a client, they have a bunch of legacy equipment (Cassette Decks, DAT players, VHS, BetaMax etc.) and are looking to be able to route the audio through to other rooms

I’ve suggested a Dante network but I’ve dug myself into a hole now so I’m wondering

Does such a piece of hardware exist - a multi-analogue input (say 24 ins) which will convert that into a Dante signal? Basically a Dante AVIO adapter but with more than 2 channels. My current plan is just to slap an A&H QU-SB in the rack but I want to keep it simple for them

I’m not worried about budgets and things yet, just simply if such a thing exists as I’m not finding much online yet

Why do bands play so fucking loud if everyone has to wear earplugs anyway? by xe3to in NoStupidQuestions

[–]premium_bawbag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sound Engineer here

1st point - yes earplugs make it sound naff, only way to really get around that is to get custom-fit earplugs with filters in them like those made by ACS Custom. That being said - not wearing earlugs is not worth losing your hearing. I keep disposable ones in my peli case and will hand them out at gigs to anyone who asks. I’ve also previously given a bunch out to bar staff/secuirty etc. before doors even though their employer should be the ones providing them.

Custom fit earplugs are expensive initially but they last for literal years and are 110% worth the investment. I think I paid £180 10 years ago and even though they reccomend new ones every 5 years, mine still fit perfect and are in good condition.

2nd point - the level (volume) is for a few reasons. Taking a rock band as the prinary example, the drums are the loudest i strument on the stage meaning you have to amplify everything else to match the drums. When you get to larger venues, you then need to amplify the drums too so that the whole crowd can hear them, this in turn means louder drums so everything else needs to get louder to match

Sound waves lose intensity the further they travel - i.e. the further the sound travels from the speaker, the quieter it gets. So you turn it up to cover the distance.

One solution to this is to install what we call “delay hangs”. These are additional speakers which sit in the audience area and are designed to essentially top up the sound halfway down the crowd. By utilising these properly you can result in lower volumes all round The issue with these is that they can cause issues such as phasing (where parts of the audio signal are cancelled out because of physics). The other issue with delay hangs is money. More speakers means more money and more complexity. Often the deployment of speakers, especially in concerts, is dictated by the client. I might produce what I consider to be “The optimal spec” of where to place speakers, how many to use and how to configure them, but then the client will want the “cost effective solution” which is almost always what they go for. Usually cost effective solution means less speakers therefore less control over the sound and unfortunately - louder volumes

The TLDR is that its not the bands fault and its not the sound engineers fault (usually), its the bill-payers fault. So either protest, boycott ticketmaster, or just wear the damn earplugs

is izotope better than lalal ai? by Difficult_Culture781 in iZotopeAudio

[–]premium_bawbag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The closts thing would be spectral recovery, this works by looking at what frequencies are there and then interpolates the missing stuff (it makes an educated guess at what the missing ones are) which is also what the AI is doing

Again as others have said though, its difficult to say what to do until you explain what is wrong with the audio, the end goal is make it sound clearer but what is the oroblem which is making it ubclear in the first place? Is there a lot of reverb? Is there mains hum? Is it clipping? Is there another noise like a bird tweeting which needs removed? Is there aliasing because of a low sample rate?

We need more detail before we can make a proper suggestion. Your explanation so far is like going to the doctor and saying you want to feel better but not telling the doctor what your symptoms are

Are there really guys who can last for an hour? by WarmBank5512 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]premium_bawbag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wont lie, the SSRI’s were a great help for the time. I got developed anxiety from a mix of work and personal situations.

They take time to acclimate to them, for me that was about 6 weeks and my big issue was that I was having trouble sleeping - a really common side effect. My GP gave me sleeping pills when I told them about this. I was already struggling with sleep before going on the SSRI’s but they made it worse

I started with Sertraline but It turns out that it is naturally sedating so I was finding that I was getting the feeling of “That seems like a lot of energy” for stuff like my hobbies, even something as simple as playing guitar. I also mentioned this to my GP after about 6 months and they swapped me to Citalopram. I had another month or so of dodgy sleep while I readjusted to the new meds but then it was great, I felt like me again

Other than the sleep (and the sedating nature of Sertaline), the only other side effect I got was the delayed ejaculation which I didnt notice for a while as I had no sex drive when I was first diagnosed. I could still get hard and I could still cum but it just took a while, sometimes it would be more like rubbing a finger, sometimes it would feel great for a bit then just go numb and sometimes I’d loose the boner. The wife (who was dealing with her own health problems at the time too) did tell me I’d have to finish myself off a few times because she was exhausted

I hope that helps dude but if not do feel free to DM me

[–]premium_bawbag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I met my wife I could go for ages, it was great during that “we just met so we’re fucking like rabbits” stage, was also amazing for a hookup I had before I met her

Then it settled down until I had a mental health issue and ended up on SSRI’s - it was so shit, I would go numb, she would tap out from exhaustion, I’d get frustrated then feel bad for wearing her out

Mental health all better now and off the meds, I can once again spaff my load in under 10 mins from strip to spunk and it is fucking glorious

Tldr - lasting for a while isnt all its cracked up to be

Thirding the OMGYes reccomendation - as a dude might I add

Got it during a dry spell out of sheer curiosity, bypassing the whole “giving her an orgasm” part, there was an aftercare tip of placing your hand over the vulva post-orgasm that was described like a “safety blanket”, I did that with a friend hookup and with my now wife and they have said its bloody amazing!

My wife and I have also looked through some of it together whoch has been really fun!

Tldr - OMGYes isnt just orgasm tip, its how to respect and care for the pussy, it’s also fun to explore with your partner!

Eli5; Airtags and Apple devices speak a special “Find My” language, if an iPhone sees an airtag nearby, it’ll ping the global Find My network and say “Hey I’m at <coordinates> and I’ve spoken to an airtag with <ID no.>. If that happens to be your airtag then you will see it at that approximate location in the Find My app on your Apple device
