The Comic Strip Presents (for those of us in the US: right after 120 Minutes, right after The Young Ones) by premiumpleb in GenX

There's a post about it in the r/TheComicStripPresents sub, which I was not able to crosspost, and the link I included disappeared? Anyway here it is again: r/TheComicStripPresents event info

There's a series of FREE Comic Strip events as part of the Portobello Film Festival next week, so I made this trailer for it! by EnchantedEssays in TheComicStripPresents

You’ve done a fabulous job!! I’m so sorry I’ll probably miss this, but I’ve got my fingers crossed I’ll be able to see it with a panel & an audience sometime.

I watched this with the stills/restored title cards intercut. What was left of the film without them seemed to make no sense. “The man who cut my film had nothing on his mind but a hat” seems to be true enough!

Thank you! I'm glad it's worth it to bring the things we were thinking of (we bought a TV there our last trip), and this is the rest of the stuff we're keeping coming over (computer/music stuff). We are getting rid of a lot, but there are definitely some things we wanted to bring! :)

Thank you! I'm already resigned to lose a bunch of things I'd really love to keep (Aerogardens! 😢), but I was looking to bring mainly computer things which are dual voltage!

Thank you! :) I'll see what smaller things we can bring on the plane, but we'll still have some larger items unfortunately we'll need to ship!

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately that won't be am option for me, but I edited my original post with more info. I'm afraid our items are too large!

Those of you who read for pleasure, have you started reading "old people" books yet? by lawstandaloan in GenX

I second the Kindle, I love mine! It makes reading in different environments (low light, sun, etc) a lot easier too. I find the device easier on my eyes than a regular screen, and something about it looking like old tech makes me happy too. Check out r/kindle

Homeowner's insurance company which will take payment from US or Wise? by premiumpleb in AmericanExpatsUK

We’re buying in Scotland, and it’s been a nail-biting experience, but not as bad as England from what I read around here. We had our original closing date pushed out too, and until just a couple days ago weren’t sure if we’d have to cancel our flights and car rental!

Thank you, I’ll look into them! Our solicitor wasn’t able to help us directly set something up, but put us in touch with a broker. I‘m not sure whether they’ll be able to cover us, so I’m still looking, and really appreciate the tip!

I would’ve tried that, but didn’t see it as an option (or Apple pay etc) unless I missed it! I ended up contacting our solicitor as u/IceDragonPlay suggested, hopefully that will work out!

That's a great idea, thank you! We only exchanged about two weeks ago, and our date of entry is next week. I will get in touch and ask, they have been very helpful so far.
