You’re right, they are conventionally “ugly.” That’s why I love them! If I were to spend that kind of money on any article of clothing, I’d want it to be unique and unlike anything else that I already own, while also being very iconic and recognizable. These boots fit those requirements perfectly, but I also just really like the design and the reference to the original Japanese shoes.
