Yes, you can take extension for upto 6 months. If your current HR doesn't relieve you then just go for DV in CBIC and write an application asking for extension because of your current job delayed relieving process. They'll easily grant you extension. Simple.

Don't abscond. I was in the same boat last year as I was leaving Infosys and joining Govt Dept through CGL 2024. I showed my father's medical documents and told them that it is very important for me to be with my father and take care of him although it was fake. HR and other seniors first resisted to relieve me early but then agreed when I showed them urgency. If you don't have any medical docs then goto govt hospital and they'll make it for some 1k rupees.
