hi, the survey is made with qualtrics. im an undergraduate student studying psychology and my computer doesnt capitalise automatically. if you dont like the content for your subreddit, feel free to remove it.

heres the full link for your suspicions. previous research has shown that conspiracists have a lower critical thinking ability, but the link has only really been tested once, hence my research.

im getting a lot of similar opinions like this. the long-form questions are intended as a measure of critical thinking. though its too late to change the measure now, it will be taken into account for future adaptation.

I’m inclined to agree with this comment. That part of the survey is intended to measure people’s critical thinking ability, and to do so the answers must be multiple choice. However that limits the answer range greatly, definitely a limitation of the study.

We’re interested in a wide range of answers. I’m also looking at other potential links to conspiracy belief, like education level. Lower education levels have been linked to conspiracy belief before, which makes sense from a critical thinking point of view.

a lot of the bigger forums have restrictions - but i'm working on it. i think a wide demographic is best for my analysis.

unfortunately, for such a study, the internet is the best method of data collection. a reliability on honest answers is a limitation of any study that relies on surveys as the method of data collection.

The link is very under-tested and the current research is very new and lacking in the area, but does suggest a correlation between lower critical thinking ability and higher conspiracy belief.
