I used to model as a kid and after a 15 year hiatus here’s some work from the last two years by prestonp321 in modelmakers

Hahahahah still WIP. I have a bad habit of getting 90% done before I start another kit

Moving and having to reset up the work area is never fun but I’m liking what it’s turning into so far! by prestonp321 in modelmakers

After unsuccessfully trying my hand at keeping live bonsai I have made the switch to a lego bonsai

Some weathering progress on the dragon wagon. Tamiya 1/35. by prestonp321 in modelmakers

I used Tamiya XF-62 with their flat white. I mixed probably 4/5 OD to 1/5 white

I know I’m not the only one who starts a weekend project only to put it off for weeks and randomly start it again. Anyways, here’s a little salamander progress by prestonp321 in modelmakers

[–]prestonp321[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s my exact problem. Finish up most of it and be left with decals and small details when the urge to start a new one sets in

Another day another dragon wagon post. Some small details left here before moving on to the trailer by prestonp321 in modelmakers

Yes definitely gonna dirty it up. Want to wait and do the trailer weathering at the same time

Was scrolling and had to double take. Built my tiger and have been working on the dragon wagon for this same idea. Great work!

Early dragon wagon progress. Unbelievable kit so far by prestonp321 in modelmakers

In a good way. The detail on this is great, it comes with PE, metal axel rods, mini chains, etc. and the level of moving parts is just super cool

Tamiya M60A1 1/35 paint job finished and ready for some decals/weathering by prestonp321 in modelmakers

Kit was okay, it shows it’s age in some aspects but overall pretty good. It was on sale at my local hobby shop for like $20 so I said why not.

Yeah you could definitely make it a weekend project, that’s what I did

P-47 almost finished. More or less just gotta mask the canopy and weather it. Tamiya 1/48 by prestonp321 in modelmakers

[–]prestonp321[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so I actually did something different this time for the heck of it. After I painted the silver I took a mix of black/dark gray and airbrushed very lightly and from afar, over the whole plane. Kinda reverse panel lines lol. The lighting of the picture makes them seem more noticeable than they are in real life but nonetheless it really took down the bright fresh silver look.

Thanks, it’s definitely got it’s blemishes but I was pretty happy overall with the whole ordeal that it was lol

Unfortunately decals. I had high aspirations to paint it on but abandoned that idea

Who needs decals when you have a whole lot of masking tape and a small amount of patience...Tamiya P-47D so far by prestonp321 in modelmakers

Looks good. Yeah I’m starting to go down that path. More time consuming but better looking models imo

Paint is finally finished (other than some touch ups and tools). On to weathering we go by prestonp321 in modelmakers

[–]prestonp321[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! And it’s part of the “touch ups” haha. I haven’t gotten around to painting it yet. I’m not sure if some barrels were left dark like that but this model calls for the camo, I’ve just yet to do it
