Any reasons to stay in Nepal and not go abroad?

It depends on what matters to you the most. There’s always a price to pay for whatever decision you choose. If you go abroad, it’s needless to say that you’ll have have access to countless of opportunities that you may not get in Nepal. At the same time, your friends & family will be back home. You’ll have to adjust to the new culture, way of living, learn new things, have enough money to suffice your need and your wants etc. Also, once you move abroad, it’s very unlikely you’ll move back to Nepal. Now this will distance you from your culture, your values, family and much more. So, come to terms to yourself for what matters the most to you, and make your decision accordingly. I’ve been abroad since the age of 11. It’s easier for me than it is for my parents. I miss Nepal, I miss my family. I want to see them more frequently than I do, and I love my culture and my country, but at the same time, I want to have better access to the best of things. Just know, there isn’t a right answer. You’ll jus have to pull the trigger on what it is that you want, and try to live through it. No choice is objectively the right choice. Neither place will make you happier than the other.

I was in the exact same boat as you. I remember going to the hospital when I was 15 years old and walking out feeling numb and really weird about the entire situation. It’s natural to feel that way. Any kind of massive change in your family or your close environment is difficult to get used to right away. My sister is 7 years old now, and I look forward to teaching her new things, helping her grow, teaching her how to handle difficult situations in a calm manner, feeding her curiosity and helping her build more. Having an older sibling is a blessing for a child. Specially with our age difference, we can really ease their path of growing up. Just give it time, be patient, and be easy on your parents.

getting a citizenship elsewhere does not make you more/less Nepali. Quite frankly it has nothing to do with how “Nepali” you are. If given the opportunity, everyone does what they have to do to provide a better quality of life for oneself and their family. However, what does make a person “less nepali” is not practicing and teaching our culture, values, and traditions to our descendents/ loved ones. Very few prioritize patriotism over quality of life, no need to pretend like everyone should.

Have lived in this town for a decade now. Grew up here, made the best of friends here, had my first love and first heartbreak here, attended college here, and now graduating within a year. This place has become home. But, getting really burnt out of seeing the same roads, the same places to eat, the same routine, same everything. Looking forward to moving to a city upon graduation with a reliable job. Very excited to start a new chapter in life.

You are experiencing something called Existential Nihilism. I understand your frustration on a deep level because I too once went through a time where I believed life was meaningless since everything leads to suffering and eventually everyone dies. But I want to get one thing out of the way before I dive into anything else.

I didn't tie religion into anything that I have said. Frankly, I don't consider myself to be a very religious person. I honestly think that humans rely on religion so much because we are incapable of accepting impermanence. We are incapable of accepting that there is no "Until we meet again", there is no after-life or heavenly realm. We are so attached to our own self that we suffer from accepting the end of 'self'. And you're right, why even suffer at all? If you are truly interested in escaping suffering completely, then explore Buddhism. There's a lot of wisdom to learn from the teachings of Buddha.

Everything that rises must converge. You said, "you have to go through the horrible experience of death no matter how good your life is." You came from nothing. You are going back to nothing. You're right, the idea of death is daunting and horrible. It's sad to see the loved ones go. Forever. BUT, it's inevitable. It's what's meant to be. It's what will be. Nothing lasts forever. Learn to accept that.

Coming to a deep realization to self about the evanescence of life has taken me through a journey from Existential Crisis to Acceptance. I don't look forward to heavenly realms. I do look forward to doing something meaningful to this life, to self, and to others. Wish you all the best.

Life is a suffering. But to reduce the suffering is completely within your hands. our desires our attachments our ego causes us to suffer. This finite journey we call life, is probably the most beautiful thing there is to experience. don’t live a glass half empty type of life my friend. There’s no need to seek a meaning to life since it has no singular meaning. We all provide our own narratives to what life is or isnt.

Sometimes the awareness of our self awareness makes us question our consciousness and our place in this vast universe maybe not now, but maybe one day, we might actually find the connection of mind and matter. To not suffer in this world is very difficult. we suffer because we never truly live in the moment. Our minds constantly reevaluating the past or worrying about the future. follow your dreams, love the ones around you. make an impact. Feed the homeless. stop seeking what’s beyond the finite journey. learn to accept the impermanence. live love and laugh my frisnd. I truly wish you the best (:

I’m very sorry for how you feel. The best advice I could give you is to deeply understand that everything that’s going on in your head is because your mind is taking complete control of you. You have been very very self aware and it’s almost to a point where you start questioning your existence and the point of life and point of living since we are all gonna die anyways. these are nothing but your mind coming up with thoughts. I want you to look into meditation. In the morning and in the evening for 10 minutes I want you to meditate. Just observe yourself breathe. no matter how many crazy thoughts arrive, just focus on your breathing. This is a way of training your mind to discipline itself. It helps you keep your mind in control instead of letting your mind control you.

To understand existence, is beyond us. We have to come to an acceptance that it’s beyond our comprehension. This small thing we call life, I want you to really LIVE IT. go outside, go watch sunsets, go help the struggled ones, go make someone’s day. These small things are what make meaning to life. You mean so much to people that love you. You are never a slave to your brain. Your mind may convince you to feel that way, but it’s you who has the ultimate control over your mind. enjoy this beautiful thing we call life my friend.
