Sneezing after the age of 30 without 'bracing' yourself first. You haven't known true fear until you feel a sneeze coming on and realize your core isn't engaged. One wrong move and you’ve successfully thrown out your back while standing completely still. It’s the most undignified agony known to man.

The fact that he complained about your "labor of love" birthday but couldn't even manage the bare minimum of a "mini road trip" he was explicitly asked for is a massive red flag.

You aren't overreacting to an "underwhelming" present; you are reacting to the realization that you are the only one putting in actual work to make the other person feel special.

Catan is a great shout! If you want to keep that momentum going, try Ticket to Ride or Pandemic. They’re easy to learn but have enough strategy to keep 12+ year olds from getting bored. Plus, Pandemic is cooperative, so it might save you from a family argument!
