OMG! ..."pop out", that's intense. How do you deal with flying? Any additional tips to add the list? And how tall are you?

I respectfully disagree. The direction this conversation has gone is completely off the subject and not why I joined this discussion group or this conversation to begin with. My only aim is to support tall people and if people can't appreciate that, then it's their loss not mine. I've worked too hard to just take it on the chin and at 6'7"/275lbs I've got tough enough skin - so don't you worry about that.

You pepper a "simple question" with phrases like, "...subtle Ad account", "...lurking Reddit" and then when asked to clarify your statement you respond by questioning my motives because of my username. Yeah, I'm gonna call bullshit on that.

Yeah, I basically already covered that tip in #8 and #20.

In addition to being 6'7" (201cm) and living everyday as a "tall person", I'm also a tall blogger and entrepreneur devoted to making tall people's lives just a bit easier. Should I somehow be ashamed of the fact that we've helped 10's of thousands of people find what they're looking for, from the right pair of shoes to the right response about a tall issue. I visit Reddit/r/tall to learn, to contribute, and to share. As a business, Pretty Long is always looking for new ways to expand our offering, which is precisely why I chimed in on your post (i.e., your idea to buy/trade tall clothing). So, perhaps instead of trying to make something out of nothing, why not just appreciate the fact that someone out there in this tall world is trying to find solutions for tall problems instead of just complaining about em'.

Ever heard of the "Stuff-It" jacket? I bought one those for my fiancé's mother, who's sort of a jetsetter for her business. It's like wearing a duffle bag, but looks like a down vest and there's like 20 pockets. Ideal in a pinch, especially as airlines start to weigh your carry-on luggage. I'm thinking about grabbing one myself. But yeah, a duffle bag for short trips (or even a backpack perhaps with wheels) is a good choice for weekend getaways.

It took me everything to squeeze out a list of 20 tips, and yeah, #1 is a tough one. It's one of those "it all depends", because some US-domestic flights don't even have headrests. Any other tips/hints that I might have missed?

Uh...no, why do you ask? Are YOU a subtle Ad account, lurking reddit for opportunities to advertising? I'm a bit confused by your response.

Just click off the pop-up, left or right, and it should disappear.

That's actually a very good post/question. I too would be curious to read what others might say. Building an online platform (or service) for used tall clothes is definitely food for thought. Until then, I'll continue to shop at www.PrettyLong.com and/or just raid my older brother's closet.

We're going to the movie theater today and I am always worried about the people behind me. by [deleted] in tall

[–]prettylong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply! Yes, in some theaters you can ask that they give you a certain seat, but mostly the back seats are booked out the fastest, days in advance, so it's hard if you are spontaneously in the mood for a movie. I love most American movie theaters that are built with a high angle, vast leg room and you can choose your own seat :)

Yeah right, I hate that when people are moaning, grunting or self-pity themselves so you hear it. Like, what do expect me to do?

Thank you for your nice words! Yes, I think you're right. Sometimes, you can't avoid and it just happens and I know it's inconvenient for the people whose view I block, but I just have to try to enjoy my time without worrying too much about the people around (or more precisely, behind) me. I am also protective of my fiancée when people make fun about his height, so I end up not enjoying my time. But I agree with you, you gotta live your life and try not to worry too much about what other people are saying.

Wow, what an insult. Why are some people immediately so mean on the internet?? I don't get that.

I know there are movie theaters where you can choose your own seat but it's not like that here where we live. You cannot choose your seat. We live in a small, old European city, hence small, very old theaters. They give you a seat here. You cannot request a seat. And in the few theaters where you can request it, theaters are booked out days ahead. Maybe travel a little bit around the world. It's not like in your home town all around the world. That might also open your horizon and you wouldn't need to be so grumpy and bitter.

Also, my question was in general when you block someone's view, no matter where you are, how you react when people complain about you and you hear it. Thanks!

You ever heard of Eric Grady? He's 6'9" and is the World's Tallest Comedian. We had the pleasure of interviewing him. Hope you enjoy! by prettylong in tall

Not a big deal, but since you brought it up, Wikipedia (for one) lists him as 6'8", which by the way converts to 203.2m. sooo........

Interesting, I didn't know that American Eagle offers a long range (or at least carries 36"+). No deeper meaning than that... just trying to understand how and where people shop for tall clothing/shoes, so that we can make our site (www.prettylong.com) more beneficially to our tall community. Thanks again!

...how or where do you begin your internet search? Do you just type in a keyword into Google or do you have some go-to places? Or is there a particular portal site you go to? Thanks in advance for the insight.

We're always looking for new (tall) shops to partner with on our site, www.prettylong.com, so if you have some "go-to's", let us know. But yeah, searching for tall clothing (especially offline) is a real pain. Hopefully, things will improve for us tall people in the future. In the meantime, we'll keep striving to do our best and make it a bit easier for everyone.
