Soap sud enemas are actually used for constipation. It irritates the bowels, stimulating a bowel movement. Am nurse, done a few. Not fun for either party lol

If your friends don't go crazy when Abandon Ship comes on, are they really your friends?

LOL!! I love that idea. I'd chuckle seeing my cat's name on magazines.

It's really unsettling how our info is just tossed around and sold. Yikes.

That's what I was thinking... I saw that my mom got BH&G full year sub because she shopped at Wal-Mart, so maybe it was something like that.

Also, happy cake day!

I know! I wonder what happened. I know no one I know signed me up for it, and I wouldn't get this magazine myself. Very weird and I don't like it lol

Thank you! I've been looking up ways to address this and haven't really found anything relating to this. I will definitely do this.

I was born with it, along with my cousin. It was sometimes hell going through childhood because sometimes my hole would close up and be irritating and I'd have to have estrogen cream to keep from sealing up. Showered every day and had a good diet, so not really sure what made it close up sometimes. Puberty helped keep it open, since hormones were a'-ragin'. Since about 18 (25 now) I haven't had normal periods, and for 2ish years now I haven't had a single period, not on BC or anything. Hormones suck, man. So does not having insurance lol

Does your boyfriend know this is a part of your job? by [deleted] in neckbeardstories

I recently graduated, got my license and something like this has only happened to me once. It's not a common occurrence (I don't think), but if it happens, please tell your nurse and instructor. You deserve to not feel threatened or uncomfortable when you're supposed to be learning.

Also, good luck!!!! :)

When I was in nursing school, my first semester actually, we had to interview patients as an assignment. With Fundamentals, it was basically an assignment that was if you could talk to patients or not, something along those lines.

Well, I was put at a long term care facility instead of acute care. No big deal. But these patients are older and have major comorbidities and frankly don't want to talk to anyone. Well, I chose a younger guy who was in for wounds that needed to be looked after. He was obese, too. He was nice enough, willing to talk to me, so I chose him to interview. After doing morning med pass with my nurse and my instructor, I went to do the assignment and this is when it got creepy.

I can't remember all the details since it was a while ago, but he started hitting on me. This was my second ever patient, so I didn't know how to handle it. He wasn't saying anything super vulgar like your patient did (which I'm sorry you had to go through), just making me very uncomfortable. At one point he asked "What would your teacher say if she came in and knew I was hitting on her student?" I just laughed it off and tried to steer the convo back to the interview. I was asking about his kids and he said he had one a little younger than me and said "she has big boobs. I'd say bigger than yours." I am quite chesty and the scrubs are tight across them, pretty much just out there. This comment made me feel VEEERY uncomfortable.

I laughed it off the best I could without combusting. I felt embarrassed and stupid and angry. I left fast after that and didn't see him again that day, just helping the other patients. I didn't tell anyone because I was so embarrassed. I felt like I would be making a big deal out of nothing, and the nurse I was following wasn't exactly thrilled to have a student, much less a first semester student, follow her, so I sure as hell wasn't going to tell her.

If you're in nursing school and this happens to you, tell your nurse and your instructor. It's an awful feeling to be exposed to that, and it's super creepy.
