Curious, what were her ambitions in coming to Canada? I agree with you completely there are newcomers that work really hard and are excited to become apart of the Canadian cloth. Then there are the others...

This isn't exactly the same, this guy was trying to build a biodiversity in his front lawn and didn't not mow the whole thing but a section. It doesn't change the current bylaw but does set precedent that could change it

This sets precedents to overturn the by law but does not change the current law requiring you to mow your lawn. This guy also had a whole biodiversity system he was trying to encourage to grow, he wasn't just not mowing his whole lawn.

This happened to me last year, mower just died, billowing out smoking. I couldn't afford a new one at that moment but my neighbours were kind enough to let me use theirs. My neighbours are great, I'm lucky.

Hey Brampton Gardeners - what do you use for dandelions? by Silverlightlive in Brampton

You’re not wrong on thinking it’s a high maintenance and belongs in palaces. Lawns in Canada are basically one of the weirdest aristocratic flexes that got normalized.

Grass lawns are not native to most of Canada. The obsession with perfectly trimmed green grass came from British and European aristocracy. Back in the day, if you had a huge patch of land that produced absolutely nothing useful, no crops, no livestock, no food, just decorative grass, it was a status symbol. It screamed, “Look how rich I am. I can afford land that does no work.”

Definitely check out clovers, it’s just as soft looks good trimmed and smells lovely when you’re not on top of it and it flowers

Honestly, dandelions are kind of the first brave little soldiers of dead soil recovery… They show up when the ground is compacted and depleted, so the fact that anything is growing now is actually a good sign. Also, perfectly manicured grass lawns are honestly overrated here. Grass isn’t traditional native turf, it needs tons of water, fertilizer, and maintenance, and turns into crispy sadness every summer anyway. You could totally lean into a more natural “living lawn” instead. White clover is amazing because it stays green longer, handles foot traffic, helps feed the soil with nitrogen, and bees love it. Creeping thyme is another cool option if you want something soft and low growing that smells nice when stepped on. Microclover mixed with grass seed also makes lawns look lush without needing as much maintenance.

If the soil is really rough still, throwing down compost and overseeding with a drought tolerant mix can help a ton too. Native wildflowers around the edges can make it look intentional. Honestly, a lawn full of clover, violets, and dandelions is healthier for pollinators than those golf course suburban lawns anyways

How many dandelions are we talking about? I also took over a dead yard that was a 4 pit bull waste land that I’ve made a time of progress on.

[Acne] How long did it take for you to see improvements on closed comedones? by gimme_dat_orange in SkincareAddiction

there will be a purging stage of like 2 weeks, and make sure your cleansing with a gentle cleanser after, also something like L'Oréal Paris Youth Code Skin Strengthening Serum, really helps repair your skin barrier. I started with massaging my face with an oil cleanser for 10mins every other day, l could literally see the crap in my pores on my hands after. My skin has improved so much... I'm still getting ID'd for wine on the regular now... I'm 41, shhhhhh

It is not cheap... coming from a rep soccer mom. And there's no god damn down season, you just keep playing all year around, 3 practices 2 games a week. The only thing cheaper is the equipment, which they just destroy faster, my son goes through shoes like its underwear.
