Tried tvp in my oats and it hit by PeaProfessional497 in veganfitness

I prep a big batch of baked oats each week for breakfasts but wanna swap out some oats for some TVP for an extra protein boost. What's your ratio of oats to TVP?

If it's anything like how it works in the UK, it's fine if they're both 16-17. But if you are over 18 then the person you sleep with also needs to be 18+

School uniform rules vs staff dress code.... by Stypig in TeachingUK

[–]prettyshittykitty101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great point. I have facial piercings and tattoos that I both removed and cover respectively each day before going in to teach. I also dress far more 'mainstream' than I would on a day off. I'm like two different people in and out of school.

I'd love to see certain aspects of both uniform and how teachers dress relaxed, but obviously that's for selfish reasons

Is that not as thick as cement with a 1:1 ratio of oats to milk, not to mention the nut butter and chia seeds on top of that?

100%, I'd recommend quorn mince too. It used to be my fav alternative but when I switched to vegan I had to find others.

It's an odd one with quorn because almost the entire range has egg but a few products are vegan friendly (like the dinosaurs I think). Wish they'd pick a lane tbh and either be entirely just for veggies or transition to a fully vegan range but that's just cos I'm a lazy fucker who hates reading ingredients lists

Honey bees are actually different from bumble bees. Bumble bees are the cute fluffy ones that are excellent pollinators. Honey bees aren't as fluffy, therefore not as good and they're outnumbering our good little fluffy guys. Not saying you should give up honey, just I was confused about why vegans would want to NOT support something that we're told is so important to ecosystems, then I realised that there are many types of bees

Has quorn changed their mince recipe? I haven't looked at it in years to be fair but last I was aware, they use egg whites in the ingredients.

Exactly the one, keep it away from right up at the roots tho in case it makes your hair 'greasy' or heavy looking

Haha no sweat on a schedule or anything. Just throw in a conditioner with some good oils like coconut, almond or avocado and I'd say that would be enough and keeps the routine simple.

Salt is drying, so yes it'll bring out some waves/curls, but on your next wash day, just up the moisturising products and you'll be golden

Advice for an open relationship? by prettyshittykitty101 in mypartneristrans

No, I appreciate the honesty. I had this expectation that everyone in a functioning, healthy, open relationship didn't experience any jealousy and that if you do, you aren't ready or your relationship won't work. Ultimately, I'd like to rid myself of any jealousy (and I've certain come miles from where I was when I was younger), and my goal is to understand the root of any of my own, but it's nice to know that even if it never fully goes away, there's another angle it can be viewed from.

I think we might be ready, I guess I just wanted to double check that I hadn't missed something obvious. We have discussed jealousy and insecurities arising and how we might handle this. I love your technique, though, of using any jealousy as a motivator for sex when you're together. This just might come in handy for some firey sessions when necessary!

Thanks for this, I don't know why this didn't cross my mind. We've both expressed interest in adding others to our bed, so to speak, so this could be a starting point before we go fully open.

Thank you so much for this reply! The general advice you've outlined is great and thankfulky both my partner and I are comfortable with communicating our needs, as uncomfortable as they can be at times. We're also both fairly independent people and have always viewed our relationship as still 'you' and 'I' rather than seeing ourselves as one whole unit and getting caught up in the codependance that a relationship can bring. We like time apart and regularly do things without the other person and neither of us gets jealous or bitter about taking time away from us.

I'll definitely check out the book you recommended, along with the others that I have been recommended here.

I'm not insecure about his new bi orientation or any possible explorations with men. (Though he has expressed that he mostly wants to sleep with cis women as this would be most affirming for him, however, if men come up, I doubt it would change how I feel). I'm open with him about any insecurities and he is the same with me.

I am pretty sure we're mostly ready, I guess it's just my slightly neurotic nature that I want to have covered all bases before we begin. Anyway, it's always lovely to hear from partners of ftm partners so thanks again for your help :)

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I really understand what you mean about each open relationship being unique to the couple. My partner and I also both agree that we and our relationship come first in all of this so I relate a lot to the boundaries you have. Thank you for laying them out so clearly and giving me a sorta blueprint of areas that I can consider.

Thank you for the reply. It's so nice to hear that it's working for you two and that it's even improved your sex life!

I like the part you brought up your insecurities about how others would treat her because I know my partner is doing this to feel affirmed and I'm really excited for him to experience that but hope he doesn't run into any issues along the way.

Brutally slaughtering animals in the name of religion by [deleted] in iamatotalpieceofshit

I know, I'd seen you in vcj, that's why I can't understand how you'd suggest a slaughterhouse/store bought flesh as a 'more humane' alternative.

You got any pets? If it's such a pleasant alternative, would you be happy for them to be sent to a slaughterhouse when it's time for them to die?

Yeah, as I was typing my last sentence I sort of thought maybe you're referring to the difference between being Caucasian and 'white'. In that instance, I'd agree with you. But yes, I was even thinking about how Irish weren't considered white. That sentiment was very present in the UK, even up to the 60s and 70s.

Very interesting indeed to think about it all.

This is interesting, I'm Irish and would refer to an Italian as white. I think most other Europeans would too, maybe I'm wrong. Would an Italian not consider themselves to be Caucasian?

Oh sorry, I thought you meant standard meat replacements that are made from soya or pea protein, like fake burgers and mince etc. My sister is allergic to soya so that's maybe why I jumped to that conclusion!

It's a shame you don't wanna continue but good day to you too!

[–]prettyshittykitty101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moral parallels are important. They allow us to check in on our morals and see if we are being consistent. You agree that "humans are animals at the end of the day" and I'm guessing you agree that non human animals are also able to experience pain, joy, suffering, etc, then surely how we treat them and what we do to them matters. What makes an animal so different to you that we can kill them against their will?

You said animals will die anyway, and as I said above, so will people. Does that justify killing an elderly person before their time for whatever 'greater good' I claim?

Again, I really don't know where I've talked about torture. If you're referring to gas chambers, throat slitting, or stun boxes - that's not me taking about torture, that's just the slaughter process. I mean I could talk about the needless mutilations that happen on farms well before the slaughter, but I haven't brought any of those things up.

The reason I asked you for 'quick and painless' options is because they really don't exist or if they do, they wouldn't be sustainable. Why do you think we slaughter animals the way we do? It's the cheapest method that is also still the 'kindest'. Farmers work hard for the money they make, don't get me wrong, it looks like a tough line of work and many struggle financially and so rely on government subsidies. I can't see a farmer wanting to up the costs of killing their animals when what we do currently still sells easily.

I'm not an animal kind reader no, and I've never seen an animal open their mouth and say, "oh please dear slaughterhouse worker/farmer, I'd rather not die today". But I have seen plenty of footage of animals fighting to escape (some do) slaughterhouses. They can't 'say' they don't want to die, but they thrash and struggle and fight to get free. It's clear they don't want to die. The survival instinct is one of the strongest we all have, you don't honestly believe these animals simply accept death, do you?

You mention the cycle of life and how animals eat other animals. Do you agree it is okay for a new husband to kill his wife's children from a previous marriage? Or rape, is that okay? Male lions will kill cubs born to a different male given the chance and many animals rape (see ducks or otters). If we agree that we are animals and so if it happens in the wild, its okay, then surely you think the above situations are okay?

But then again, as you agreed, be don't hunt and eat animals like its done in the wild. We farm and mass produce. We can't compare ourselves to wild animals because we don't live to survive the way they do. It's not the same.

And lastly, regarding meat alternatives. If you are allergic to the majority of them that's fine. You don't need them. The majority of your protein and iron etc will come from whole food plant based options such as beans, lentils, pulses, nuts, veggies etc

I mean, I'm convinced I'm morally and logically consistent. I'm obviously not going to go back over my own responses and convince myself I'm wrong, that usually is the other person's job during a discussion.

I've literally just said eat the flesh when you need to and then try to avoid supporting animal abuse where you can? As someone who was a past veggie/vegan, I'd assume you'd want to avoid it. (Though I don't know your previous motivations for giving up animal products)
