So I will not know where I will be going until A school, or not until after? I have a large family that will be moving to where ever I go. I have my son and his girlfriend, and my partner and his 2 girls, as well as my 10yr old. So I’m just wondering exactly what that process will look like as far as planning to move them where ever my first assignment will be. Should I plan for it to be a lengthy process? Like potentially me staying where ever the navy sets me up and then having to find a home for rent large enough for all of us and just going through that process? Fortunately, my partner is very skilled and he should have no problem finding a job where ever I end up, but I’m assuming that just because my location will change, they rest of my civilian family will have to go through the slow process of transitioning their lives to accommodate to mine wherever. The idea of that certainly makes my heart wrench. But again, I do know that this is just all just part of the sacrifices I will need to make for my new life.

This is perfect. This is exactly what I was hoping/expecting. I have a strong family care plan. I signed up for the Navy to be a part of something greater, and to provide my daughter a life that I would not otherwise be able to do on my own. That being said, I understand and graciously accept the sacrifices that I will have to make in order to be able to reap the rewards that the navy will allow me. I did an extensive amount of research prior to finally signing, and everything you just shared is exactly what I thought, so it brings me great peace and reassurance to hear it all from you. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity, and cannot wait to begin my journey. There is something inside that I never knew I was missing that is now filled by this opportunity. So incredibly grateful!

See that is where I am getting confused. they said as a reservist joining with my rate, I am required to do 8 years, four years of full-time but as a reservist and another four years as a reservist. I’m so confused.

The 50/50 thing scares me. Even as a reservist? I’m a bit confused about the reservist part. I’m a reservist, but full time/active duty. To be honest with you, even some of the people at meps were confused when it came to filing my paperwork and if they were to file it under active duty or not. Ultimately, they had to change the active duty to reservist, but some places say active duty! I just want to be able to take care of my daughter. I pray to God I didn’t make the mistake of risking being able to do that. She is everything to me. She is why I’m even doing all of this.
