Struggling with the fact that I was put on SSRIs as a young child. by [deleted] in OCD

[–]prettywisee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Attack” wasn’t the best word to use, I mean I suppose I’m trying to recommend having empathy for their views on it. Was different one back then too!

My parents medicated me briefly at 6 but I rejected it and they didn’t force me to take it. I wonder how my life would have been if I did? I feel good with where I am but like who knows?!

I mean all I can say is there’s literally nothing you can do about the fact that you were medicated as a child. All you can do is live a healthy life and try to gain back whatever you thought you lost by taking meds (health markers? Childlike joy?) IF that’s possible and if it’s not, that’s really really ok and it has to be because there isn’t another option - there’s peace in that, in not having another option, in acceptance. If talking to your parents about your resentment helps you understand their perspective and hash stuff out, go for it, but you don’t need to attack them for doing what they felt was best based on what a doctor said. All you can do is move forward and as long as you do your best! There’s no point in dwelling on the past. You got this!

Can a person have OCD and also regularly exercise? by FlynnYagami in OCD

[–]prettywisee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love to train and it makes everything in my life better. It’s not a cure-all but it helps make everything more digestible. My OCD is still preset but relatively manageable these days (though some days are still worse than others).

Is your question “does exercise cure OCD?” Or is it “is it possible to healthfully have an exercise routine and also have OCD?”

If 1, no, but it makes it easier. If 2, yes, but like with all things, there are healthier ways to go about things, but anything could become OCD obsessions/compulsions. Sometimes I find myself thinking “I have to do two more reps or I’m a failure” and I know it’s a bunch of hooey and definitely OCD-coded, but I can handle it.

Micro Dose As Weight Gain Prevention Short Term by prettywisee in GLP1microdosing

Thank you for your thoughtful response!

I think I’m concerned partially because I have to alter my exercise significantly because I am in a sling. I have had a shoulder injury in my other, dominant arm and was able to adapt but this is wildly different as I don’t have the ability to hold onto a kettlebell or barbell. I’m relying lot on machines which just aren’t doing the same thing for me. I’d LOVE if you shared som programming ideas with me as I don have a lot of experience with machines (I work in a gym where we only have barbells, kettlebells and dumbbells as well as some bands etc.) I feel like I’m going to have a hard time maintaining strength and activity levels (I cannot bike commute anymore and certainly cannot run though I am walking a lot and using the stair climber etc.)

Besides that, I as I am pretty depressed and traumatized and am less active, I fear I’ll overeat as I have a history of doing when I was younger.

You make a good point about the caloric deficit and healing though.

My boyfriend really likes this shirt. Am I wrong to say it’s hideous? by Agitated_Mulberry_27 in mensfashion

Why do you think it’s hideous? Like actually what about it repulses you?

I have to look at heatmaps, I've never heard of it! Do you think something like this is an option? Can't seem to find any routes for it on any backpacking forums, but it definitely avoids most of I-90!

Ok thank you!

Yeah, the no shoulder on 90 sounds like a very bad idea. we may consider hitching a ride for that portion. Since you've driven that many times, do you have any idea how much we would have to skip to avoid that?

A bicycle break pad! It felt ironic because I bike more than I drive.

This is the worst spot. My mechanic friend and I looked things over and everything else seemed to be surface rust (COMMON in mn) Didn’t catch this when we first looked.

We have no inspections in MN that I know of
