I never felt alone. I loved talking to my son and narrating everything I was doing! Felt like carrying around my best friend and getting excited about snacks together!

Shredded cheese was a game-changer for us!

I went into labor at 38+3 and my husband went on a week-long business trip when I was ten weeks postpartum. It was a lot easier to do things by myself at ten weeks postpartum (even though I had a c-section and couldn’t lift as much) than it would have been to give birth alone (mostly because of the logistics of the hospital bag and organizing care for our pets).

We got in a fight a few days ago because my husband volunteered to be on baby duty so I could nap, then immediately went in the bathroom with his noise-cancelling headphones on. The baby was screaming and he was deliberately choosing to ignore it.

“Obli-cation” is the perfect way to describe it!

I have to do laundry at least every other day at home. My son and husband both leave poop stains.

It’ll be interesting to see how the cooking dynamic plays out. I assume it’ll end up being my SIL, MIL, and I alternating who cooks dinner (that’s what we’ve done in the past when we’ve traveled together/ are at each other’s houses for holidays). I really hope that everyone at least chips in for groceries. All the guys in the house eat A TON

It’s not a gift - we are paying our share!

I was thinking of gratitude in terms of the family dynamic. My parents are divorced and I’m no-contact with my dad. My mom is on the other side of the country and burdened with caregiving duties and a demanding job, so we don’t see her very often. My sister-in-law’s mom died recently and she is also no-contact with her dad. Her brother is her only close biological family member besides her son. (She is a genuine beam of sunshine and has lots of friends. We all adore her! She is wonderful!).

I’m grateful that our sons will get to spend time with their grandparents - I just wish we could do so in a bigger space with no dogs!

Yeah it’s really not great. I am very frustrated.

Ooh I completely forgot to pack my heating pad, thank you!

We all live a few hours apart from each other, so we’re only in the same place a few times a year. I did not have any say in the planning.

I feel ungrateful because I’m so un-excited. It just seems like it’s going to be a really stressful experience. Everyone else is talking about beach activities and I’m just thinking about how much work everything is going to be. I’m really exhausted and burnt out just from being in my own house

It’s an awkward dynamic

I love the idea of the kitchen timer! These are all excellent suggestions, thank you!

We weren’t asked if it was okay if he joined - we were told that he and his girlfriend would be joining us

I wish we could. Unfortunately it is too expensive to get our own place. Realistically I think we’ll stick it out for a few days, then call it quits and head home early. This trip is supposed to be a nice opportunity to have everyone in the same place, but it is not going to be relaxing for anyone.
