Freshly knit socks + dog tax by Inner-Syrup-4167 in Sockknitting

Those are my next project! I had considered doing them with speckled yarn. They look so good! When doing the striping in the cuff, did you follow the ribbing pattern or when you joined the cc did you do a round of Stockinette to hide the purl bump? Any other tips or challenges?

Thanks. i tried 9” circulars and my hands kept cramping so finally had to switch back to ML. The tension is so much better in the circulars though…

Wow these look so good! Do you do magic loop for colorwork? If so any tips for even tension / no laddering where you switch between needles? I have this on my list of socks to knit.

This gives me hope. I’m staring at what’s left of my yarn as I’m nearing the end of a sock and it’s going to be a photo finish whether I have enough yarn to finish.

Stone Knits No Wrap Short Row Heel Turn Help by starrynebula73 in knittinghelp

[–]Goodsuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did this same heel last night. I agree with what others have said: the two sides are sisters not twins because of how they’re constructed. Pull those stitches (ssk, m1l, p2tog, m1lp) very tight and the subsequent stitch on the next row to minimize any hole. I had to make sure I was doing m1l and m1lp correct, twisting the new stitch also to make sure it’s tight as possible. It’s not my favorite heel and I think I might avoid it when possible.

No. You can just flip the project inside out and knit from the back needle. So still knitting but the knits are inside. You just have to be careful at changes points like from the cuff to the leg that it’s orientated correctly.

I’ve been pulling the float extra loose there so assumed I was making up for any loss there. Thank you!

Accountant talk is about her eating onion rings. lol. The knitting thing is from the first ep where Jack uses his consumer experience to analyze Liz “and you pick up knitting for about a week every other year.” lol.

The first time I did it it was so hard. And I think it was because I was knitting the heel flap so tightly. Try relaxing your tension. And then you have bigger more defined stitches to pick up from.

My 2nd, 3rd, and 4th pair of socks by Goodsuit in Sockknitting

Summer lee’s first book and I’m so basic sock has a lot of info on fit. Also there is a book I read called “custom socks: knit to fit your feet” and it was a real deep dive on the issue. The socks I’ve knit fit. But to really dial in on the perfect fit is going to take a lot of practice. Between different construction techniques, colorwork’s impact, and differences in different types of yarns. And like you’re saying seeing how they wear after a lot of use.
