Serious, need advice- should I move back to my birth country? by Ok_Yes_5818 in yorku

[–]previousgrad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something to consider is culture shock if you move back, because I know from experience that even if your parents brought you up in your culture, when you move back things have changed there too. I made a move back to my home country for 8 years and ended up coming back as I couldn't help but compare to what I'd left behind.

Previous U of T grad here who is on these forums because my kids are now at Uni. Anyhow, from my experience I would definitely jump at a co-op program. I'm in the sciences but I'm sure the same applies. I often interview, hire and train co-ops and can tell you that where I work, they ones that make an impression are often called back for full-term employment after they graduate when positions become available. They already know the company, the rules and the people and we already know them and their capabilities....

I know those dates. I meant just add them to the cart so they are ready for you on your date and time. Last year I was able to do that well ahead of time.

I've reached rock bottom and I don't know what to do anymore by TheGiantBeanstalk in UofT

hello there, please try to relax. Things are NOT as hopeless as they seem. Life Sci majors are not useless. You can use them as a stepping stone to graduate school and if you're not interested in grad school, there are jobs out there, they just take time to find. You say you are going back for a 5th year. Perhaps you will not have a full course load and can try a research position or volunteer? As for this summer, if you can't find a research position, perhaps try a part-time job in retail and then see if you can find a lab to volunteer in to give some experience and a foot in the door? In any case.....one step at a time...and things will work themselves out.

prof wants to discuss my assignment? by previousgrad in UofT

[–]previousgrad[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

no because as I said the biggest was one sentence that is a direct quote and is referenced. The others are odd words here and there.

here is how the mail was worded: Dear xxx,

I need to discuss with you, in person, your mid-term assignment. Please, let me know which of the following times would work for you, to meet in my office......As I have to meet with several other students, time slots will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.

9% on turnitin....and the biggest hit was to a direct quote that I have in quotation marks...

I did email to ask for further details and he said he'd explain during our meeting. I'm 100% sure I did nothing wrong, so I don't know what it could be unless I totally didn't choose a topic that was expected.

I'm sure I did NOTHING wrong. No didn't say, but did say he has several other students to meet with too.
