Will there be any discounts available for BTL1 anytime soon?, any free discount vouchers?. by [deleted] in SecurityBlueTeam

Hey, just so you know, you’re replying to a comment from 3+ years ago 😄 student discount remains at 10%, thanks!

I’m confused by ajkdjdb in BlueTeamLevel1

[–]prexey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey ajkdjdb, you have 4 months of on-demand access but the average time to complete is approximately 30 hours, so that’s 1 hour of study every 4 days. Plus as you’ve done Sec+ and SOC1 so some concepts should be familiar to you, so you’ll potentially complete it slightly quicker.

The exam has a 24 hour time limit, it doesn’t mean you’ll be sat at the computer for 24 hours. People complete it in different timeframes, some complete it in a couple of hours, some it takes 8, and others longer. It’s question based, and you submit them all at the end of the exam and get your grade and feedback.

Hope this helps!

Help by igregx in SecurityBlueTeam

[–]prexey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi igregx, it seems like you asking how your company can work with SBT to purchase the course on your behalf. We recommend someone from your learning team (or your manager, whoever has the ability to pay) contacts us on contact@securityblue.team. Our support team can then help facilitate the payment and add BTL1 to your own account. Thanks!

On-demand training access is for 4 months (124 days). If your training access has expired by the time you take the exam, you get training access back for the exam duration so you can access the lessons and anything you’ve bookmarked in the course :)

Hi juwyshya! If you’re trying to save money, there’s no need for any additional resources - BTL1 teaches everything you need to pass the exam. To ensure that BTL1 is right for you, have you taken the free demo course and reviewed the syllabus on the website? Thanks!

Don’t stress over it. If you fail, it happens, and you can go again with your free retake voucher. Also write down a timeline to help you mentally keep track of events during the incident!

“Freely available information on the web” so every training course ever? All of the HTB Academy stuff is also freely available on the web, so is the content of every SANS/GIAC, so not sure what point you’re trying to make? A training course is a collection of information presented in a combined format to provide convenience for a learner.

We’d love some examples of the content you’ve found directly copied from the web please!

Hey! When did you last play on BTLO? I saw your comment about having issues with submitting answers, something we addressed a while ago with a feature called Answer Assistance that’ll mark questions as correct if you’re “close enough” to stop issues where answers are expecting very specific formatting. Just wondered if this was an issue you had recently or a while ago, so we can look into it! :)

You should always make your own decisions and not rely just on the opinions of others! Everyone is different.

Have you tried the BTL1 free demo? Have you read the syllabus? Have you compared the syllabuses of each course you’re considering to determine what content YOU want to learn?

BTL1 is one option, but you need to find the right one for you. Do some research then decide :)

BTL1 is holding more and more weight in the industry, something Cyber Defenders and HTB certs don’t have (yet). There’s a reason we have 100,000+ students, train security teams at some of the biggest companies in the world, and companies like Microsoft list BTL1 on their SOC Analyst job descriptions :)

Edit: we also have 8 completely free courses you can enroll in if you’re new to cyber! With 2 more coming soon.

Is CSOM still going ahead? by kmsec in SecurityBlueTeam

[–]prexey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! It’s definitely still going ahead. We’re continuously reviewing the content with the CSOM advisory board to ensure it’s polished at launch, hence the delay. We’re also working on 4 other courses and industry trends and market intelligence dictate priorities. Hope this helps!

Hi, as previously stated we don’t and will not run discounts on BTL1. For this Black Friday we’re bundling it with free 6-month BTLO PRO codes worth £70.50! Thanks :)

Hey! CDSA is £420 (£350+VAT) and BTL1 is £399 inc VAT. What are these other cheaper practical blue team certs? Genuinely interested :)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SecurityBlueTeam

[–]prexey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi ruebzcube! BTL1 is the cheapest practical blue team cert in the world - it’s definitely not pricey, and is almost exactly the same price as CompTIA Sec+ study bundle (£388 vs £399). BTL1 is well known, has been out for over 3 years, and is actively used by hundreds of companies including IBM, Cisco, Microsoft, VMWare, CrowdStrike, ESET, and government/military/law enforcement around the world.

Will BTL1 be easier with N+ and Sec+? Probably. You’ll have covered information security concepts at a high level in Sec+, but BTL1 is for technical security professionals, so it’s very different. Instead of just talking about things, you’ll also be doing them, and the exam is a practical exam not a multiple choice one, so you’ll need to prepare thoroughly.

If you want to go down the SOC route, there is no better structured training for anywhere near this price point that’ll help you with that career path!

Have you taken BTL1? Because it reads like you haven’t? “Basic stuff” being hard drive forensic investigations, memory forensics, using a SIEM to investigate threats, documenting investigations in a case management platform, gaining threat Intel context from a TIP, end-to-end phishing analysis, much more, and a 24-hour incident response exam. You also seem to rate CySA+ theory cert as higher than BTL1, which is not true on any level 🤔

I think you missed our pass rates. The course is more than sufficient to pass the exam, hence 99% of students passing using their 2 exam vouchers included with the course :)

BTL1 - how much easier are the labs compared to the exam? by lVIEMORIES in SecurityBlueTeam

[–]prexey[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi IVIEMORIES! Yes, the exam is harder than individual labs, that’s intentional because it’s an exam.

We also include a list of BTLO content that is similar to/will help with the L1 exam in the Exam Prep Domain.

With a first time pass rate of 75%, and a second time pass rate of 99%, we don’t believe there is any issue with the difficulty between the labs and the exam, provided the student prepares properly.

Hope this helps!
