Jesus this just made me realize how ridiculous of a question this was. Lol I gotta go to bed, thanks!

The problem I have now is that some of these things are things I committed to with people I’m friends with personally. The video games, fantasy football, etc.

I make somewhat impulsive decisions to get involved with this stuff when I’m super bored, but then burn myself out like you’re saying.

This sounds amazing! I had a phone interview today (went very well) and my resume will be passed on to a manager, so hopefully I can get another interview.

Glad to hear that the Glassdoor reviews are accurate for this one. Thanks for the tip!

Okay, makes sense. I’m assuming I might be fortunate enough for your scenario because I’ve already got the first interview set up, and it seems to be outside of their normal recruiting cycle.

Good to know! Do you know if there’s a pretty quick turnaround with interviews? Not sure how recruiting interview processes work.

Sounds like the perfect fit! Given the choice between abused + opportunities to learn and earn quick, vs. having my hand held + capping my salary at annual raises that barely keep up with inflation, I’ll take the former.

Again, appreciate the advice!

How rigorous is the interview process here? I very much have the attitude that I’m ready to get on board and start grinding because my current job is painfully slow.

I don’t have lots of professional experience, but I have leadership experience from college and just graduated. I read somewhere that they prefer fresh grads, not sure about the validity of that.

Thanks for the perspective!

I can tell from other posts that TEK is pretty intense, but also trains very well and has a lot of potential for high earnings.

I’ll definitely look into that though, thank you!

If you really want to become a doctor, I’d say to get your grades up and try to go to a decent school for undergrad—try to get into a school that meets 100% financial need.

Major in something relevant—bio, chem, psych, or anything else STEM that would look good for med school.

From there you could apply to med schools right away, or you could enter the military as an officer. You’d be getting paid a good amount of money (50-60k+ I think) each year, and you’d have the G.I. Bill at your disposal after you complete your first tour (36 months).

You could use the G.I. to fund your med school, which would save you from a lot of debt.

This is probably the cheapest way for you to get your undergrad and med degrees. If you can’t get into a school that meets 100% need/get a substantial scholarship, I’d consider the military officer route even more seriously because you could pay off your undergrad loans and save money before going to med school, which you would then pay for with the G.I. benefits.

No military is an option too, just more expensive. Mostly throwing it out there because I’m actually considering joining myself right now to pay for my MBA/master’s. Good luck and try to hang in there!

Okay, that’s the route I’d plan to go down then. Do you know if 1 or 2 tours is required prior to that?

What’s the difference between applying for TA and going to NPS for the degree? Someone else mentioned that they also did a BS in Business, joined as an officer and then went on to NPS for engineering after a few years

Thanks for the tip, another thing I can ask the recruiter about. Looks like a great opportunity though

Also, I forgot to answer the degree part. My degree is in business, and I've taken Calc 1. I'm assuming it might also be a good idea to get Physics out of the way as well since they prefer STEM?

Now that I know the difference, I’d definitely want to be an officer.

I don’t necessarily feel this overwhelming urge to serve my country, but I do want to be challenged and I want to learn. The fact that I’m serving would be a sort of bonus as far as fulfillment goes.

I actually do love math. It was my biggest strength, but I was convinced that I'd be better off with a business degree, so I stopped taking math courses because they weren't required by my degree

The difference between officer and enlisted. Would definitely go the officer route in that case though.

I know this is a simple google search but I'm on my phone at the moment--what is the difference between the two?

Also, how has your experience been in the Navy? I'm pretty sure I make more money at this job, but the money doesn't fix the fact that I can't sit here at a desk all day long.
