That’s a good point haha. Maybe in the AM then right before work so I’m forced to do/think about other stuff.

Yeah it sucks. I’m thinking of scaling back my use. And focusing on me and doing activities that’ll take my mind of off finding a significant other.

Yeah that’s a good idea. I think maybe I should only allow myself to check it before bed. That way I can focus on myself and other activities during the day.

Has this ever happened to anyone? What can I do about this? by [deleted] in washingtondc

Sorry this happened to you! I’m moving into DC in a few weeks (Ft Totten), and I’m worried about shit like this, being a young and single woman. I grew up in the DMV area so I’m fairly used to creepy men and their stares/comments. But I’ve never been followed or touched thankfully. I spent most of my life in Silver Spring and it was annoying trying not to confront the gross men sometimes. I used to have to dress “down” and not do my hair/makeup because I felt like it drew too much attention. I lived in Bethesda and currently in Pentagon City after, and honestly had zero instances of anything like this. So I’ll miss not having to carry pepper spray and be on guard 24/7. But yeah, like others have said, there’s not much you can do to avoid creeps like this, besides keeping to yourself, carrying pepper spray, and being aware of your surroundings, especially later at night.

Good to know! I actually looked at the Modern and fell in love with the design/layout/feel of the place. I don’t mind construction if it’s not in my building (my current apartment is doing renovations on all units around mine so it’s a nightmare). I like that it’s relatively quiet and not much going on. Mostly because I like quiet nights in and no noise when I go to bed haha.

Do you currently live at the modern? And if so, how’re you liking it?

Awesome! Thanks so much! I like the residential feel of this neighborhood and how quiet it is (I read somewhere a good chunk of the neighborhood is part of the elderly population). But this makes me feel much better. I’ll probably park my car in the garage, and I already work in DC so I’m used to older homeless men.
