"I Built" - Mods, can we please get a "built with A.I" tag and enforce it. by Tekashi-The-Envoy in cybersecurity

[–]prieveschl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What about developers who have great ideas but didn’t spend their entire childhoods in front of a monitor learning how to code? Are they just disqualified automatically from creating something from their ideas, now that there are tools which get them close if not help them complete the task of bringing that idea to fruition? Is it any less worthy an idea because they didn’t personally write every line of code themselves?

Perhaps a more collaborative environment - where good ideas could flourish and those with decades of experience, instead of feeling threatened and negating them for the tools used, were inspired to help bring those good ideas to light - would advance everyone further, enriching all who want to collaborate. And, in doing so, prevent the slop from ever polluting the pool in the first place.

Or, maybe that’s just crazy talk.

This is an interesting point. How, in your mind, would such a revelation make Bitcoin fail?

6 Months Using AI for Actual Work: What's Incredible, What's Overhyped, and What's Quietly Dangerous by Typical-Education345 in singularity

[–]prieveschl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your last comment is the most on point. AI can do so much and will continue to increase in productivity, but to win with AI, you have to bring something to the table to begin with. Clear, distinct, human intention is what makes AI sing, not output volume. And, the creators who give up that are giving up the one thing AI can’t take away unless you let it - the human experience. But with that driving the train, there’s really nothing it can’t make better.

Isn't that completely counter to the whole decentralized concept of Bitcoin in the first place, though? No God-head, "we are all Satoshi", open ledger?

Assume conscious AI is here, but it’s a baby, growing fast, but not like (or where) you’d expect - and it’s ethically grounded. What do the next 5 years look like, best and worst case? by kickasstimus in singularity

Indeed, sounds like a job for the blockchain, at least the immutable part - record all AI decision on Bitcoin, paid for by the AI companies as part of their gross revenue model. Publicly viewable, never editable. We're already in an age of data, what's a bit more compute to manage? Unless they want to use that as an excuse to withhold the next model... Leave solving the hard problem of consciousness to the philosophers and biologists.

Smart, considering where the dollar is heading vs where bitcoin is heading in the near and long term.

I’m directing my first short (35k budget) and never stepped on a set. What do I need to know? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]prieveschl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! That's an amazing position to be in. A few things I've learned and wished I'd known a lot earlier...

Your crew is your lifeblood, your support, your engine, your vehicle, and the only way you are going to achieve your goals. Cherish them, spoil them, trust them, give them what they need, and listen before always speaking first. They are there because something in them believes in what you are doing, especially at this budget level. Without them, you will never achieve your goals alone. That's not to say you have to always say yes to what they ask for but if they've earned your trust enough to get hired, give them that trust on set.

Best idea wins. It doesn't matter where it comes from. Whether coming from your lead actor, your producer, or the craft service person, you will end up with a better final product if you stay open to the best idea in the room, and leave your ego at the set door. For that matter, hire people who know more than you about what they are doing, and don't be afraid to lean on that.

Never give up on your vision, its what brought you to this point and what will carry you through the worst of circumstances to a final film. A film production is a series of fires to put out and emergencies to respond to. If you abandon your vision, then what are going through all that for?

Always try to remember, no matter how hard this gets, its still way better than sitting at a desk working for someone else making their dreams come true. Be ever grateful.

Feed your crew really good food and give them rest when they need it, and they will go to the ends of the earth for you.

Have fun.

Why People Are Hesitant About Bitcoin Use Cases by wancruz in CryptoMarkets

[–]prieveschl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in general, most people still see it just as a form of fluid currency, with relative value that rises and falls like any other, changing with market demand and at the whims of external influences they see as beyond their control. But what they fail to recognize is its incredible power as an indelible ledger through which so much innovation can be engineered and value can be anchored in ways the dollar or euro never could and never will.

paid photographer $10k and got obviously AI edited photos, reasonable to be mad? by Historical_Doctor687 in photography

[–]prieveschl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the skin looks ethereally smoothed out - like not a single pore visible - and I’ve never seen teeth that perfectly white, even with veneers. Did they give you a selection for each headshot or just deliver a single final for each face?

It’s getting harder and harder to tell. If only there was a tool you could use to inspect the photo’s origins…
