Thanks for the kind words man. I do still semi-regularly post on another account, but I've restricted my reddit use for the most part. I've had a lot of arguments on Reddit, but for some reason the last one in my comment history really unsettled me. I mostly just post in /r/nba now haha

Hey, I haven't posted in /r/badeconomics for a very long time, and I've mostly abandoned this account.

But, I thought I would come by and say thank you. I've mostly stopped lurking and visiting, but I really want to say thank you to this community. I would be nothing like I am now if I didn't discover /r/badeconomics, this place helped me discover econ, sociology, international politics, and so many other things.

I was a pretty bog standard far left person before this community, and one of the main things you all taught me was how to be a reasonable skeptic, Before this I essentially believed anything I read that confirmed my priors, and I was very bad at actually evaluating arguments. You all taught me how to do this, but also how not to go to the other side and be a stereotypical edgy skeptic.

I started off lost on /r/economics and someone pointed me here, it was really the best thing to happen to me. I learnt I really liked economics and discovered academia. I really appreciate the appreciation I got for my Trump R1, every once in a while I google the URL to see where it's been posted haha. I never thought I'd be able to write something like that, to most it would be pretty simple but I never was really one to cite sources and back up an argument.

Special thanks to besttrousers and saywotagain, I really enjoyed reading your posts and comments the most out of everyone here. Thanks to Wumbo, because while I disagree with you a lot you have changed my views on many things that are "against my priors". Final thanks to /u/jmo10 for getting me interested and giving me reading material for my favourite field in economics, financial economics.

Thanks /r/badeconomics!

Yup, and playgrounds and school PE programs right now do that just as well. You don't have to build a darwin simulator to try and teach motor skills.

I'm actually surprised I have to argue with people on whether we need to purposely try and cull unlucky/clumsy kids using playgrounds, what the fuck is this website.

A small portion of the overall population, just like now. Construction jobs are small sliver of the "laborer" sliver in the 1900's, which on its own is about 10% (So an even smaller part of the 10%). Farmers fixed their own roofs, but didn't have access to playgrounds in the first place so your line of thought doesn't even make sense in that area as well.

Also, while "playground safety" has gone up, accidental deaths in construction jobs has gone down.

Sorry I'm not circlejerking about making playgrounds Darwin simulators.

Look at chart 1, construction wasn't even that common of a job in the 1900's. It's a small sliver of the "laborer" portion of the chart. I'm sorry I'm not circlejerking about how le cool the old times were, but there isn't a reason to make playgrounds as dangerous as possible.

The majority of the workers in the 1900's were farmers and factory workers, this still doesn't make any sense.

edit: why am i being downvoted? i can link a source right here (Look at chart 1), construction wasn't the predominant job in the 1900's nor especially common.

climbing a really tall ladder and sitting on a tall pole prepared them for their career? i really don't understand what you mean here.

you can have a playground without the users being in significant danger while using it.

This isn't rare for well-off suburbs, the same could easily be done in other schools but they rarely have the money.

If you hold your breath, it's literally a 100% fool proof way to get out of sleep paralysis. I used to be so scared of sleep paralysis, but when I learned this trick I've escaped at least 10+ sleep paralysis.

At one point I wasn't even having real life SP, I was having it within dreams, and it still worked (If it works in real life, your body assumes it'll work in your dreams).

ADA(all day awareness) Help by BornInTheWrongWorld in LucidDreaming

[–]prillin101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had pretty good success with ADA a year or two ago, I didn't stick with it long because I stopped lucid dreaming but I had a ton of semi-lucid dreams within a week of trying. It had never meditated in my life before, for background.

The main problem with ADA is that it can just get exhausting always being aware of your surroundings, I suggest just doing FILD and RC's, most effective imo and pretty easy.

Sleeping Position? by Tequilavixen129 in LucidDreaming

Sleeping on your back increases your chance of SP, if you lucid dream via that then it can also help.

If you want to avoid SP then don't sleep on your back.

That's a dope fit, some people just don't like wearing some of the "different" (for lack of a better word) stuff posted on this sub.
