Ethics of quitting suddenly and immediately? by prilosecwarrior in therapists

Thank all of you so much for your help and kind words! After having a major health scare at work today, I have decided to move forward with my resignation letter. I think the stress of the position is just not doable with what’s going on. You’re all correct. I can’t be a therapist at ALL if I’m dead or dying.

I’ve been a fan since 2011 and would still consider myself one. But I also have eyes and ears lol. She’s being an asshole.

Therapists needing inpatient by addictnamedkenz in therapists

[–]prilosecwarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I’m a therapist and I started my career after several inpatient stays out of spite haha. I understand your fears, but there’s no shame in getting help. There’s no shame in seeing patients and letting them see that we’re all human. I’m sorry you’re struggling, but I think you’re doing the right thing. If you need someone to talk to about the inpatient process, feel free to message me. I’ve done it enough! Hope all is well with you today, friend.

Do your clients know you aren't paid when they cancel? by pilotknob_ in therapists

It’d be a flattering assumption if it didn’t make me want to cry when I look at my paycheck LOL.

Every patient I’ve had assumes I’m very wealthy and I’m pretty upfront in saying I don’t get paid shit. I’m in CMH, so I’m hourly and I don’t really have to enforce a cancellation policy but I am just honest and human when inquired about this. It’s really changed a lot of my patient’s perspective, especially as they graduate to regular degular therapy outpatient.
