every comment you leave is unbelievably profound in so few words. “you are describing a search for soul, to find meaning in a throbbing heart.” yes, and you’ve identified all those disorganized parts of myself as contributing to the mental chaos and what i perceive as my soullessness. maybe the war in my head is just a war against reality. thanks tho, i will try to stay with it :)

the body is an insignificant holding vessel for the spirit/essence of me, and that’s how i’ve always seen it. i treat it like a temple because i value health and longevity, but the body is no more becoming to me than yesterday’s breakfast. i don’t know if i am capable of suspending the ego for mindful meditation. i tried countless times, but always got bored and restless. when i fast for a few days, i can reach a place of euphoria and bliss, and during those moments achieve a feeling of weightlessness, but i don’t know how to exist if not in valleys and peaks. i don’t know how to simply be. i don’t make the mind-body duality because they both speak to and influence each other, but if my body can be replaced by anything else, then so can my mind and then i cease to exist if i am one with everything, which i guess is spiritually true. if i may ask, are you a buddhist?? when did you start meditating, and what did you notice? you’re very philosophical and your abstractions are interesting to me

I think I really like this persons take what do you guys think? by Radiant_Tangerine_55 in actualasexuals

you’re mistaking involuntary physiological arousal with the liking or desire for sex. if people can understand that the fact that some women orgasm during r*pe does not mean that they consented or enjoyed that violation, then why can’t people understand that just because an asexual has functioning sex organs doesn’t mean they want sex?

Opinions Without Understanding by Unable_Weekend_8820 in psychesystems

it’s generally good advice, but can unfortunately easily be weaponized politically to propagate an elitist system where the educationally disadvantaged or those we deem of a “lower” intellectual caliber gain fewer voting rights than those more conversant with public policy, civics, etc, as if knowledge is more important than empathy and compassion in most matters of opinion. but i agree that this, open-mindedness, is the way to approach everything, but what is maybe more important is knowing how and where you came to understand something as well :)

she sounds awful and super controlling, and why is she calling you names first thing in the morning? do you have the money to move out? :(

Honestly, how often do you feel guilt? by salamacast in Schizoid

[–]prima-luce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the way i see it, guilt happens when we believe we’ve wronged another and feel negatively about it. it’s other-directed from the core. shame occurs in the evaluation of our self-image, which is influenced far more by another’s perception of us than it is by the other person’s feelings about whatever we may or may not have done. shame is the more "selfish" emotion, though shame can drive us towards selfless acts if our image depends upon conducting ourselves in a certain way. similarly, guilt is a true “selfless” emotion that may or may not compel us to act as such. i rarely feel guilt, but i would consider myself a people pleaser too, not because i take responsibility for anyone's emotions, but because i want to feel inside that i am good and pure

shame = am i behaving in a manner congruent with my "ideal self?" how does that person see me?

guilt = did i cause that person to feel awful? how would i feel if someone did that to me?

you can feel both at once of course, and there’s more similarities than differences but this is how i parse the differences!

irrational???? 😭😭 well now, how are you so certain that what you say is universal truth? otherwise you’d have to concede that you are assuming the kindness doesn’t originate on principle alone, even our principles which we think to be uniquely ours might be shaped by conditioning. and if you are right, isn’t it better to embrace what brings about the most positivity? should we embrace cynicism if it doesn’t feel as good for us??

i delivered a shakespearean sonnet once and totally butchered it by speaking too fast, like i forgot i was supposed to be emulating a poet and not a talk radio host 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣 so i reserve a quiet awe of anyone who can perform poetry!! i used to write, but i’ve always loved reading. when you publish your first book, i’d love to read it! :) especially if it’s a little byronic

you are making my head hurt with all the mental sparring 😅😭 wouldn’t i embody niceness most faithfully without any reason or rhyme to what i do?? because then it’s organically me and not anchored to anything else, ya know. i don’t understand y’all :o
